If the trail is pointing downhill I take this bike:

And if the trail is a bit jumpy and flatter I take this bike:

Lots of action shots here: https://serenaur.pinkbike.com/

Had this since I was about 14, used it for 2 years than got a moped so stripped it to rebuild but got lazy.

It was only for commuting but got replaced; decided last weekend to get it finished off so starting rebuilding today. nothing flash just something to keep me on 2 wheels. Laughing

It came branded a Raleigh Shogun but I've never seen another. Confused

Does anyone know if there is a way of getting pics off an iPhone onto the forum without a computer???

Anyhow, still riding a Focus Cayo 105, done over 5,000 miles on it now.

Full Carbon Fibre frame and forks
Mixture of shimano 105 and Ultegra groupset

Wheels are shite. Want to keep this as my winter hack and get a new one tbh.

With my Android, I can browse BCF in it's 'browser' which views it as per a PC so uploading pics isn't restricted.

Don't Apple provide similar?

I fancy a road bike and a turbo trainer for thrashing to death in the conservatory through the winter...

Old picture now, taken back in March.

Now have black Fizik bar tape, new saddle, new rear derailleur and new 105 SPD-SL pedals.

I'm gonna buy a road bike through the Ride to Work scheme. Got a grand to play with but I want a turbo-trainer too. Any recommendations?

I got itchy feet on Friday so I've handed my old Carrera Kraken to the Missus and I ordered myself a Specialized Hardrock disc 2012, kinda like a giving up smoking treat, not a bad thing to spend your money on. Going to be a good thing for me and the wife to do together with or without the kids, I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas.

The cheapest one. Honestly...

I bought one for £150+ because it had an adjustable resistance attachment which sounding great at the time but realised soon you just do this with gears anyway...

Magnetic seems best of them all. They do them in decathlon for about £70 I would spend that or around that.

Edit: Don't forget to factor in turbo trainer tyre too Thumbs Up

Got one of these sat in the shed doing bugger all. Seems every time I use it I get a flat and end up walking home Rolling Eyes

Raleigh Freeride LX

Bought to replace a Raleigh Freeride GLX that I had nicked from outside work. Basically the same bike, merely different colour and the GLX had a front cable operated discbrake and different forks. Same as this but without the rack. Not my photo btw.

I recommend you not be gay and ride the damn thing in winter. For the money of a TT you can have gloves, tights, overshoes and a warm top.

I was going out on mine during winter at certainly zero degrees, a wooly hat worked wonders in keeping the cold out, and I was using three layers on top.

If you're set on it, and your work scheme allows (some specify the retailer), I'd go to my local bike shop and they would no doubt allow you to add a bit of money on top, so you still get the cheap £1,000 deal and get the bike and kit you want.

I have posted pics of my mid '90s Specialized Allez before, but I cba to do it again.

I have had to replace the crank set (snapped a crank arm), wheels and stem fairly recently, but it still is pretty much how it was...fucking amazing. Laughing

It is like Trigger's broom tho...

I will ride in winter, but I'm more likely to be on the mountain bike when the weather's bad getting clarted half to death in the local woods. The TT is for when I get in from work during the winter and it's dark or when the weather's atrocious (biblical rain here at the moment) and I want to have an hour. And it's for the missus too...

Btw, if you can go anywhere with your cycle to work voucher, you can't go wrong with this on wiggle at the moment, full carbon frame and forks and 10 speed tiagra group set which is a good starting base. You can upgrade to 105/Ultegra when parts wear out.

https://www.wiggle.co.uk/felt-z6-tiagra-2012/

Just for anyone interested, the 2013 bikes are starting to come out now, so there are quite a few bargains to be had on the 2012 models.

I was going to get a new one this year as mine is 3 years old, however I need to spend £2,000 upwards to get a noticeable improvement on my existing bike so will wait til next year.

Our local Halfords aren't involved. But Planet X are if I want something really special!

For the turbo, www.bikeradar.com is good for gear reviews (or maybe www.triathlon220.co.uk, but that'll be a bit high end I would have thought).

I have my brother's cycleops turbo, and that's pretty good, but they are all bloody noisy. Not sure if youve used one before, but if not, you should only get one if you have somewhere isolated, or if you dont like your neighbours Confused

Regarding bikes, £800 will get you plenty of bike in the end of season sales... Look out for deals on 2012 bikes. Specialised, cube, and and boardman have been good value in recent years, but my personal preference is Giant - the quality and range seems to be really improving at the moment, and they have a good spread to specs.

Again, for bikes, bikeradar reviews tend to be pretty accurate.

A mate of mine at school had one of these, we discovered it did the most epic skids of ever.

There was a really steep hill near where we lived, we used it for a 'longest skid' competition.

The back tyre lasted an afternoon before it wore completely through and the inner tube burst.

Happy, care free days.

Cool
