Having aced my theory (well...passed it anyway!) I've booked mod1 and am planning on doing it on my own bike.
The main issue that it's not on the DSA's list but it uses the same engine as the Aprilia RS125 (restricted).
I have an email from a chap at the DSA who says it's fine as an A2 but I need to show bona-fide evidence of its restriction from a dealer.
Would a statement saying that it has the 24mm carb and no powervalve be enough or would they want a dyno readout?
Or do the examiners tend not to bother too much.
I'll be taking the test at Hull MPTC if anyone has had dealings with them.

I was more bothered about it not being powerful enough! Due to it's style and weight it struggles to do much over 60mph and will not reach 50kph in 2nd gear! which should prove interesting for the 2 'high speed' manouvres... (this could also be due to the fact that it won't rev over 8K even in 1st but that's a post for the workshop forum!)

Any advice would be welcome Smile

Sad

Has anyone taken their test on an RS125? If so, what proof of restriction did you need?

I did think about that (and am still considering it) but it's not very local to me (80[ish] mile round trip), so I thought I'd ask here first. Smile
Having said that, we have a mod2 test centre here so I could ask their opinion.

A mod 2 test centre? It doesn't do Mod 1?

It's a £15.50 gamble, why even worry about it?

No, 'fraid not... Mod1 hasn't got to Scarborough yet :/

Yeah, I know it's the cheapy one - but with it been a bit further afield it's tricky getting the time off work (and they didn't have any sunday slots available when I checked)

I'm going to call in to the mod2 centre on my way home from work and see if I can accost an examiner Wink

It's going to come down to the actual examiner on the day: if you want anything like confidence, you might have to call through to the mod 1 centre.

However... that's the cruiser styled Aprilia, right? I'd be astonished if you're questioned about it, unless you put the thought in their heads. Wink

Yes, it is the cruiser style one.
I may just go 'armed' with the email from the DSA and (as Paddy mentioned) something from the garage saying that it's still restricted.
So if they do ask anything I can wave some bits of paper at them, but if they don't ask, then... Smile

Is it even listed on the approved bikes list...I think you said its not.

It might be a bit of a grey area.
