Hi all, my mate is looking to buy a ZXR400L, now the advert says has a slight cam chain rattle? Sound serious or something or nothing?
Cheers

I'd imagine it just needs adjusting, which begs the question why hasn't it been? dont know if its an automatic adjuster or what.. it could well mean it is at the end of its adjustment, if so thats £200 at least for a new chain?
Personaly i''d say for him to get it sorted and pay half each (provided his price reflects a rattley chain, otherwise he should be paying for it) if he is hesatent then you know thre might be something more to it...

It'll be an auto adjuster.

With some bikes a little camchain slap and rattle is quite acceptable - I know the old kawasaki Z series were known for it.

On a zxr4 its less of a good sign. Changing a camchain is an ok job, but something i'd only want to do on a bike i was going to keep for a very long time.
