 |
|
Got mod 2 on Friday, not looking for riding tips as such - everyone rides different & on the day I can only ride like I do everytime I go out or have been trained etc:
Just wondering if anyone has any do's & don't's that may be useful?

Listen to the instructions you are given very carefully. "Take the next left" means just that, "take the next available left" means look carefully for no entry signs on one way streets.
On the independant riding section it really doesn't matter if you screw up which way you need to go so long as you do all of your safety checks, the worst that will happen is that you get a minor.
Imagine that the examiner is a satnav and is giving you the directions rather than someone judging what you are doing ____________________ Theory test - 19/8/09, CBT - 11/10/09, MOD 1 - 16/8/10, MOD 2 - 27/10/10

Try and relax. I know it’s easier said than done but don’t worry and over think. Just treat it as a ride out with your instructor and don’t put too much pressure on yourself to pass. There were a couple of times in my test that I thought I had picked up the odd minor here and there but got back and only got 1 minor, so don’t think the examiners are too harsh.
Just don't be too laid back, ya know, feet up on the handle bars with a fag on the go
Best of luck

Cautious into junctions and roundabouts, sharpish out. Get up to the posted limit, we've (sadly) seen several instances of examiners expecting you to treat them as a target. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Do pass. Don't fail.
Revise the questions, including the one about pillions, which I forgot about and had to frantically try and remember. Relax, ride normally, don't worry about anything. Don't do anything stupid, but if you do, don't worry about it. Worrying will only cause more mistakes.
Also, bear in mind the examiner may not notice everything. For example, I tried changing up when already in top gear, which annoyed me, but even if that would count as a minor how's the examiner going to spot it? ____________________

oh right. My driving instructor mentioned something about that just after i passed... Apparantly the driving test was getting about 50 times harder, so i was lucky i passed when i did, because it all changed in a "few weeks" (this was march 2008). = mind, my driving instructor was telling me to book my test since my first lesson with him, but the previous instructor had got me into the "your not ready" frame of mind, so after a year of lessons, he finally said "book your test, otherwise im not giving you any more lessons... your wasting your money" - bloody good feeling passing that test... had tears well up. (almost as much as first time i saw my daughter and son when was born - bloody great feeling)
Well, just booking my tests, taking a look. theres a 1 week wait for mod 2 (banbury) 4 week wait for mod 1 (garrats green) but need my theory first.
for 15 quid, i think im ready for mod 1, so theory, then straight in there... (4 weeks is plenty of time for practice)... and then straight onto mod 2, if i fail, take note of whats said, and decide if i need "lessons"... if i pass, brilliant! - just be a bastard if i fail for lack of speed on my bike being 125, but im assuming they know what a 125 can "do" so take it into account - hence the restriction. |

Well, I just hope I ride better on test than I've done on 2 outings on my 125 today, raggy would be putting it politely!.
I'll be different again on the trusted er5, perhaps it's not always a good idea to do that little extra on own bike when on mod 2 next morning. Unfortunately I can't a ride out on test bike before test, only trundle up & down the schools area on an industrial estate.
Still, I'm going into this as positive as I can be, certainly intend to enjoy the experience if nothing else & unless I do something serious/dangerous or rack up enough rider faults to become one then I don't see any reason for not passing.
Still at loggerheads with instructor re: humps - he says always go around them when possible as bikes are not expected to ride over them, but I also look at it that if I ride them then I won't forget any lifesavers as only mirrors needed on speed change due to not changing position, guess we'll see as no guarantee will even go over any - been assured theres only 1 small road that has them which is on test route(s).
I'm hoping & thinking I'll be able to post a pass tomorrow ____________________ I might not be a gynecologist, but I know a cunt when I see one |

I have just completed the theory test and at least 2 of the clips on the perception part had the motorcyclist going over the actual humps rather than round them... ____________________ Fuelly My Z1000SX

There's only 2 40 & 50 mph stretches known to be used on test, so other than those I doubt I'll get out of 3rd ____________________ I might not be a gynecologist, but I know a cunt when I see one |
