Add this one to the list of incidents recently.

Parked my bike up as usual just around the corner from my home.

I go away for a few days. Come back to find damage to my bike. Odd i though as it's under cover and parked leaning downhill making it very difficult in deed to blow over.

As i'm walking away, I spot a note. A guy who lives there witnessed and spoke to a Silver Honda Civic driver who reversed into the bike and knocked it down. He and his female passenger then struggle to pick the bike up.

They then drove off without leaving details.

Oddly enough there car (the witness gave me the reg), is parked just 200m up the road.

I've stuck a note on it but they haven't called me.

As such i've reported the incident to the police who didn't seem to care much despite the fact that the other party has committed two offences. Driving without due care and attention, and failure to report an accident.

The bike, an Aprilia Falco, has over £5000 worth of damage, and unfortunately is extremely rare (only 6 are known to exist in colour)

Here the bike undercover. You can see the offending car in the right hand corner.

Evil or Very Mad

Haha, no he was trying to reverse into the space by my bike. I've been parking there for 7 months, even articulated lorries manage to get up and down the street without incident.

I even park outside the permit spaces (as bikes don't them), so that the cars have extra space.

As the bike was covered he wouldn't have been able to see the damage, which doesn't look to bad until you realise that end cans are £1800, front fairing £600, side fairing £500, wing mirrors £180, single handle bar £200, tank £1400.

Apparently he asked the witness "do you know whos bike this is?", On replying "no", the guy drives off, with no attempt to leave any details.

The Civic is worth about 7k.

You can attach a small funnel to the fuel tank on those cars...there is a bung underneath the car. Use your finest quality sugar and pump it full of it. Thumbs Up

Failing that... keep calling the police and insurers. You have a witness. Simples!

I called up a national number, they weren't really interested and only gave me an incident number when I asked for it 3 times.

Carole Nash were just as bad. Called up yesterday they told me to call back tomorrow.

I've still waiting to hear from the driver, the note is still on his car. I doubt he'll call.

I'll pop into my local police station to report it along with a written signed statement by the witness. That should get things moving along.

or in one of those yellow parking ticket envelopes.

either way, no point ever calling the police unless its on 999 (or 101 for non emergency emergencies lol)

go to the station, get them to take a full report and give you a crime ref number (if they issue crime ref's for these sort of things)

basicaly sit on the floor, throw a tantrum until they do something.

be like a huge kid Oding on sugar who isnt getting his way.

or just be nice and polite and hope they do it straight away lol

In staff car parks they have 2 types of stickers to use on car windscreens when someone parks in an "anti social manner".

1st time - A sticker that is easily removed and leaves no residue.
2nd time - A sticker that is a complete cunt to remove and leaves residue.

Might be worth a shot.

completely irrelevant, but at fucking last, you've given someone some potentially not-shit advice. Shame it's fucking obvious.

Same thing happened to me the other month. Parked my bike up outside my home, nipped in to make a quick phone call. Goes back out to go to the shop 20mins later and noticed that my mirrors were all askew. My first thought was some kids had been messing about. Until I heard someone shouting from one of the flats a couple of doors down the road saying " I saw everything mate" Didn't really know what hewas talking about at first.

Until he came down and showed me the damage to the right side of my bike ( I hadnot noticed it as I got on my bike from the left side)

The neighbour was outside having a smoke when he saw a car reverse into my bike, knock it over and pick it up and drove off. My bars and fairings were scratched pretty bad.

Thankfully my neighbour had his phone on him and took some great photos and phoned the police to report it. Cops called round pretty quick tbh, took statements and got the guy to email him the photos.

Police managed to track the driver down within a week and got me her insurance details.

Never actually got round to claiming though, as riding to the dealer via watching a bit of thr TT races, some stupid bint in a van pulled out infront of me and the bike was written off. Guy in the bike shop said it was probably best just to claim off the second accident and forget about the first as the second accident was the one that fucked the bike up proper. So that's what I am in thr process of doing.

Good luck with your claim mate. Keep on at the police. If nothing else it is a crime not to report an accident within 24hrs so press them on that and buy your witness a nice bottle of something.

How else are you supposed to call them ??????

BTW 101 cost 15p a time to call Rolling Eyes

It is actually better to email or fax. That way they have to take action as a paper report has to have a trail...
As its on paper, its a reported crime, and they will do something, as it screws up their clear up rate Laughing

Also if you get one of the non police on the desk, as to speak to a police office.
Its not uncommon for the civies to work very hard to avoid taking details.... means a lot more work for them Confused

Back in 2008 my mint CLR125 was parked up outside the metal/biker pub in liverpool, The Swan.

When I returned I spotted damage all the way down one side of it.
A dumbass had reversed into, up and over it.
He went to drive off but the blokes outside the pub smoking went over and told him that he isnt going anywhere with out leaving details.

Bike was written off, bought it back for 150quid, fixed it for 20, paid off the loan I took out to get the bike in the 1st place.
Free Bike.

The dumbass was fuming though, the total claim amounted to about 4.5k due to recovery and hire bike costs.

The bike doesn't start, but then these bikes do have a tip over sensor.

Other than that it has two dented end cans, wing mirrors scratched to buggery, bent clip-ons, bend brake leaver, stress fractures, scuffs and scratches to the front cowl, lower fairing scratched both side (i.e where hit and where it fell), scratching to the tank.

Total cost using OEM parts £5283.8 not including labour.

Aprilia parts are bloody expensive.

Yep.

Once fixed or replaced I'll be trying to find somewhere with CCTV.
