Getting petrol at a petrol station (big surprise), and was inside paying and got to watch some kid pull in behind the bike and not stop in time and nudged the bike off it's side stand... crunch!!

Luckily I had a crash bobbin otherwise plastics would be looking pretty horrible right now. The kid said he would pay for any damage which I have noticed is a cracked double bubble screen and a broken crash bung.

I felt pity on the kid, I ripped my lid off and eye balled him in a slight rage, then realised he was only about 17 and was clearly scared... took a deep breath and told him not to worry accidents happen, and he helped me lift it up.

So I'd like to find a double bubble screen and crash bungs for as cheap as I can manage it without jeopardising quality so the kid doesn't get landed with a huge bill.

Cheapest i've found is £40 for each item.

Any suggestions?

Those prices sound about right to me. I would be thinking £40-80 for a screen, unsure about the price of bobbins.

£80 isn't too bad to ask the lad for I think, considering it was his fault and you don't need to involve insurance.

Take some Karma for reacting well to it though. Thumbs Up

Yeah I thought it sounded about right too. Just wanted to make sure.

Cheers. Thumbs Up

Damn right there!

When i had a car written off by some little scrote driving a crappy ford KA, he basically said if i reported it he would say i wasnt indicating!!

He hit my volvo480 es two tone ,which i had spent soooooo long restoring it after years of neglect by previous owners.
He was travelling about 45-50 in a 30mph zone and paying more attention to his mate and his cdplayer and new speaker setup, which was pretty bloody loud!!

I was slowing down to make a right turn into a junction(the only right hand junction for over half a mile)
I noticed him approaching fast but assumed he had seen my indicators,so i continued with my move, and started to turn when i took a last look in my right hand mirror !again! and he smacked right into me!!.

I even pushed his pile of crap to the side of the road for him, and as i lived round the corner i had him follow me to get my details etc,he gave me a piece of paper with !!!Yes you guessed it!!!his DADS details!

Long story short!
He admitted fault! and i didnt get any no claims issues(8yrs) but to this day he is still dragging his feet over the injurys he caused my daughter!

hopefully soon it will be over(after 8yrs:(yeah 8 years!!

so to reflect on the qoute above!!!get that footage!!

it will save so much time if he pulls a fast one,as he will probably be on the 2yr probation period!!(and try anything to avoid higher insurance at his age)

Not really necessary if the kid doesn't want to go down the claims route...

At 17, I'd be surprised if he even had insurance £12,000 to insure a 17 year old in a 1990s banger...

Its every bit necessary, it amazing how 'memory' changes between the scene and home.

FWIW indicating is not a legal requirement! (from this thread). The wording is should. In highway code speak this is advice, it's must to comply with any road traffic law. Should as in

Well before you turn right you should

* use your mirrors to make sure you know the position and movement of traffic behind you
* give a right-turn signal
* take up a position just left of the middle of the road or in the space marked for traffic turning right
* leave room for other vehicles to pass on the left, if possible...

Something similar happened to me when a ZZR crashed into the back of my car when I was turning right. I was signalling! He was actually trying to overtake at a junction which is a no-no. Insurance for some reason settled for 50/50 Confused I am still bitter Evil or Very Mad

On original topic hope it is sorted ok. I doubt I'd be as calm.

The crunchy noise of a bike going over is not one that I'd wish on anyone. Hope it gets sorted ok. Thumbs Up
