how do you teach your friend how to ride a bike?

Left lever is your clutch,right lever is front brake(most used),right foot does your back brake,left foot does your gears.
Gearing on gixer from neutral is click once down for first,then up a click at a time for second through to sixth.

All this will be explained to you when you do your cbt. Wink

If you want to be flash you can even change gears without using the clutch. Feels smoother than a standard change

I remember when I was in Cyprus in the early 90s that the bike test consisted of turning up at the test centre. If you arrived on a bike and didn't look like you'd crashed on the way there, you passed! Shocked

The scarey thing is that, as Lex said, the liscence is valid as a full liscence over here! Exclamation

Cyprus really is a different world to riding in the UK. I would suggest you get some real training if you want to ride over here.

Hi

Whatever you do, don't consider a GSXR1000 as a first bike. It would be like learning to fly a PC flight simulator and then thinking that gave you the skills to land the space shuttle.

Is our country that bad that a new licence is valid over here. Crikey, most of europe requires a UK license to be held for two years before you can drive over there, and I think the US is the same...

Mind you, I want to go to Cyprus for my test now...

If you've never been to London you're in for a shock.

You would definatly want to take some lessons over here on British roads. Although a lot of the road signs in Cyprus are the same as the UK, and you drive on the same side, the volume of traffic is like nothing else, especially in London.

At times like rush hour, you will find that everyone knows exactly where they are going, they are all in the correct lanes, and everyone knows what's going on, as people that drive in rush hour do the same route every day and so know exactly what they're doing.

If you're planted in the middle of that on a GSXR, you're going to come a cropper very quickly.
