Are you not meant to lean the bike over rather than just getting off?

Just what I was thinking...bloke must have long legs. Somehow loses it's coolness when the bike is so upright you could still balance a cup of tea on the tank Laughing

I do realise a cup of tea would potentially stay on the tank anyway due to the G-forces involved.

Maybe it is actually on the side stand, stationary in the middle of the road and he is just hanging on it...

Nah.... He's on the wrong side of the road for a real tea drinker.

More likely to be a Skinny Latte, Cappuccino or an Americano on that tank Sir.

The whole point of shifting your weight is so that you can keep the bike more upright.

i always thought it was to stop the bike going upright ? powering through a corner makes the bike want to sit up straight imo

surely it's more dangerous hanging off like a monkey like that, you can't keep yourself to the bike without using your hands

lolwut?

The bars are a control input not a support, you hold yourself onto the bike with your legs.

warm your tyres up and pull the throttle as hard as you dare, providing grip is there, the bike will want to sit upright

obviously body weight will change the direction the bike travels too

I was more surprised at the idea that you might hang off to keep the bike less upright.

The bike stays down quite happily on a hard throttle whilst leant over anyway, not a problem I've noticed to be honest.

Didn't realise that opinions played a part in physics.

Leaning off the bike helps to keep the bike more upright whilst doing the same speed due to where the weight has been moved to.

The knee can also server as a marker for riders to stop them leaning "too" far.

On a side note: That picture looks like my half arsed attempt of getting a knee down on the GS. Laughing

Perhaps if he was getting to 50+ degree's of lean, it might be OK. Like that just looks plain stupid Thumbs Down

Perhaps he is actually faling off the bike Laughing

I'm actually impressed by how little he can lean a bike and get his knee down...

Reckon he's about 7'? Laughing

Yeah I was just explaining it in simple terms that other guy.

It does look rather stupid at that angle. Quite an eye opener to how stupid I must look! Laughing Still have far too little cornering confidence in my bike.

A tiny, tiny amount, practically imperceptible for all intents and purposes. There's a video somewhere on the interwebz showing how little control you have over a bike by shifting your weight around.

Why do Yankee roads always look good. Where are the pot holes, the dodgy fixing, manhole covers, random cracks, bumps and roadworks Question
