I had to pick something up today on the S Coast. After this, I went for a little play on the roads around there. As a London biker, it was absolute paradise.

Cars moved out of my way, other bikers were courteous, nodding etc..., the roads were fabulous - none of this London cr@p where there are holes so large you could lose a scoot down one. There were even a couple of sportsbikes to play with although I have a big ol' bus of a bike (CB1300). Only issue is when I returned, I'd overstayed a bit so the dark visor meant I couldn't see where I was going but hey, I was enjoying myself.

Is there anywhere else out there you could recommend as somewhere good to play?

Dartmoor has some great roads, and there's some other good ones around here in south Devon. Though the roads on Dartmoor are just perfect, the wilderness makes for a great view too.

I don't know anywhere better than Spain, particularly the Spanish Pyrenees. Twisty roads with almost no traffic, if you choose the right roads. I've gone 40+km and seen only a single car.

Takes a while to get there though, not a day trip Smile

Just try not to go to far north if you come over to God's Country (Wales) as the police love to pull bikes over up there.

+1 to Wales.

However, do consider that >90% of the Welsh GDP comes from issuing speeding tickets to English motorists.

Just lately I`ve been to both Scotland (JOG) and Northumberland and can recomend them both.

Last time I was in Wales, was in the car Sad but the roads are just the ticket for bikes.

I can now understand why bikers hate London! Don't get me wrong - I love London as a Londoner but I can now 'get' why London is can be an @rse.
