Had a ~50mph highside on Saturday and landed hard on my right hand side.

Knox gloves took a bit of a beating and the sliders/armour worked in the critical areas, but what I was most dissapointed with was how the leather and other material bits got destroyed.

One of the fingers burstt at the seam and the leather is holed, reckon I was doing 40mph when i hit the floor.

There are various other bits where the leather/matterial has splitt.

Would you expect this from £130 gloves? They are mean to be race spec... I would hope the leather/stitching would be better.

Perhaps I can send them to knox to be repaired, but if not what do I replacce them with?

If I'd been going a lot faster I'd have ground my finger down to the bone.

What do you think race spec means?

How you crash is a lottery. You could have been writing this from hospital, or not at all. Now, on another day, the gloves may not have split in a crash, but we can never know just what they had to endure.

If the damage to the gloves is your primary concern, then I'd suggest you congratulate yourself on a good result (bike aside, of course).

I'd expect them to withstand sliding at more than 100mph, not to burst at 50mph?

If you've still got the use of your hands then they've done their job. Crashing is an expensive pastime Karma

To be honest, they look how I would expect them to look after an off at 50mph.

The main thing is that they did their job and saved your hands.

It would be interesting to find out if Knox will repair them for you.

That's it. They've done their job. Time for a new pair.

I buy cheap gloves for track riding, because with it being mini-supermoto, the amount of crashes per session is high.
In a days riding, every rider is almost guaranteed 1 crash each.

Depends how you land. Are your hands injured? No? Good.

Wasn't gear supposed to be "one hit wonder" anyway?
I must admit that I agree with others. They did what they're designed to do, which was to protect your hands.
They've done their job mate.

P.S £130 for gloves ?! Damn... I didn't know such price existed Laughing

I came off at 50+ wearing a pair of £10 no brand gloves from ebay. Still have my fingers. Laughing

So you don't expect them to be really thin leather for greater tactile feel at the expense of protection knowing full well that as race equipment your sponsor will replace them at the slightest hint of damage?

I assume you landed hands first? In which case you put a lot of stress on the immediate landing hence the splitting. They still look like they've carried on well enough, after the initial impact the backs of your gloves are more likely to take a good scraping.

I have the same gloves and your pics don't work me in the slightest.

My first pair (and only ones I've had a decent crash in) were some held equally expensive jobbies. I went over the handlebars at somewhere above 60. The initial impact was minor is I tucked early rather than sticking my arms straight out. While I was sliding I ground clear through the Kevlar/carbon knuckle guards. Not a mark on my Hans though. As has been said above - single use items!

I crashed and my gloves are damaged because they slid down the road... shit gloves

My 100mph crash gloves were in tatters. You could pretty much see most of my hand, but my skin wasn't touched. Those look hardly damaged anyway. I was using A* GP pros, £150 gloves, and I don't think they're shit at all, hence why I bought another pair.

Next time, have a proper crash so you can't bitch about a few scratches. And sliding on your palms is asking for broken wrists. avoid it.
