I have my derbi fully de restricted an it can hit 50 but I'm not financially in a place to buy a 125, I've seen a few posts of people wanting to do this but no real out comes

Could I replace my 50 2t for a 125 2t engine

If anyone has any info of engine sizes that fit i.e. a DT125

And any other issues?

The words 'a lot' spring to mind.

Assuming you could get the DT engine to fit, which would require serious work to the frame, i.e moving things, fabricating brackets and getting the sprockets to line up which would undoubtedly be a nightmare.

After that consider that you'd be adding considerably more weight and power to the bike, something which the suspension and brakes were not designed for.

If you try hard enough you might manage it, however the cost of building the bike might be more than just buying a 125. Also I seriously doubt you could get insurance on it.

It really doesn't seem worth it - particularly as you say you can't afford a 125. You'd end up with an un-insurable monstrosity that wouldn't work as well as any 125 that you could buy for the same money as doing this.
Better yet, spend the money doing your tests on a rented/borrowed 125, then live with the 50cc until you have enough money for a decent bigger bike. You'll be amazed what you can get for 125cc money when you're not stuck with having to get a 125.

Ibelieve that the Derbi Senda 125 uses the 50 frame.... how much use that nugget may be I dont know.

PRACTICALLY: Derbi 50 is a MOPED.
If you want to modify it to be a 125, and use it legally on the roads, say for such things as taking tests on... then you would need to get the thing re-registered, under new licencing catagory of MOTORCYCLE

So after all the engineering niggles, you have a big paper-work one, which I believe starts with something like a £350 fee to VOSA for Identity & complience inspections..... then the hassles of insuring it as a modded vehicle.

As a poverty measure; its a non-starter really; moped will fetch more money sold on as a moped, and a 125 would be cheaper to buy, than build, and live with.

If 50 is in any kind of road-worthy shape, ought to fetch if not enough to fund a propper 125, at least a fair chunk, even if its only a CG125 or heaven forbid a Chinky CG-Copy!

Only people I've known willing to put a 125CC engine in a 50CC, is 16 year old's who want more speed. Then they have a crash and the insurance inspect it and see it has a 125CC, so then the rider gets disqualified and the insurance is void, for telling them lies.

It's really not worth it.

There's no other way of putting it Very Happy

if you into your supermoto's or motocross / dirt bike style bike's
go for a DT125, their great little bike's and can be highly modified with some mechanical knowledge and money Thumbs Up

or RX125 SX125 or something like that Thumbs Up

Hope this help's

Matt
