Does anyone have any information on shipping a bike from the UK to the USA? (The selection of bikes smaller than 500cc in the USA sucks)

At a guess, export charges, both in shipping and paying for any required paperwork (export fees etc) would be expensive.

The American Bike Culture seems to be one of "my son's thirteen, I'll buy him an R6 for his birthday". The Americans fail to see the point in starting on anything smaller than an R6 (if my experiences in #motorcycles on undernet are anything to go by), and this would explain why very few sub 600cc bikes were exported to the US.

I shipped my bike from the UK (Southampton) to NY using Wallenius Wilhelmsen very cheap, i think it was around £300-£400 on a roll on roll off. it starts to get a little more expensive when you start to pay the custom charges, it helps if you use a broker to do all the paper work for you when the bike is in NY.
For what purpose are you shipping the bike, if its for travel then its easy, if you want to import a bike from the UK to USA then its a lot more complicated.

Thumbs Up

Hi

Think your biggest problem will be registering anything that you import. This is likely to be expensive even if it is possible.

All the best
