Well not proper overheating but it's gone up to 5 bars out of 8 a few times.

So I was wondering how you clean all the gunk built up between the fins of the radiator? The fins seem very malleable.

Also I'm looking to do a coolant flush and refill to get it back to optimum. So does anyone have spare 5 mins to explain how they do it? Do you have to take the radiator out? How long does ths take?

How hot was it when the bike "overheated."

I've had my bikes indicating 110 degrees before. Thumbs Up

Mine doesn't usually go above 4 bars. Usually at 5 bars I can hear the fan kick in but it definitely didn't happen today which is concerning me a little. Bike doesn't show actual temp so I'm going off bars. It was 2 bars off being in the red danger zone.

LOL

You worry to much, I wouldn't be concerned until it approaches is the reline, my TDM Regularly hits it in traffic in summer, a quick spurt of 40mph for 5/10 seconds is enough to bring it right down again.

The Speed Four has been up to 117!

If the fan isn't kicking in, then it's prolly your fan switch Laughing

Download the manual, it tells you where the switch is P3-13. Try shorting out the connectors and see if your fan comes on. If it doesn't then it's prolly a fuse.

I suspect this may be the result of something called "warm weather"...an exceptionally rare fault in the UK so often misdiagnosed as a problem with the cooling system.

The easiest thing to do is leave it idling for a while and see if the fan kicks in. If it does kick in, happy days.

If it doesn't check the fan switch and the fuse. I had a fan fuse blow for no apparent reason some time ago, replaced the fuse and it never blew again.

I have seen it hit 125 before on a really fucking hot day and I was sitting in traffic (no room to filter), jheeze my legs where cooking. once hit open road and get some breeze on the rad and went back down to about 80,

Just noticed you have a ZX6R G...if that's the bike you're talking about then you might be comforted to know mine regularly goes up to 5 bars in town on a hot day.
