The question is in the title ..

What would you do?

I'm in the middle of a restoration not sure if the clocks work or not...

i can either spend 28 quid finding out - or spend that money buying a digital clock... just don't really fancy buying both lol.

cheers guys

companies like koso and motogadget do some lovely little digital clocks, with a range of styles and sizes, you're bound to find something you like there!
It depends what sort of restoration you're doing too, a custom job or a back to originality

Depends on what sort of restoration it is.

Are there going to be any other mods, or are you trying to make it as standard and original as possible?

What are the chances of picking up a good set of secondhand clocks, if it turns out they don't work?

I'm in a similar position, having a speedo that doesn't work properly, which will probably break completely if I take it apart; I can't source another one at this point, so my options are to go digital (don't think it would suit the bike) or find a clock set from another bike that will work.

the chances of picking up another speedo are slim to none its a rare bike and i think digital speedo might look good, also i don't know where i would mount the ignition switch/barrel if i removed the clocks...

also will it pass mot if it doesnt have odometer?

Get any old speedo cable. Poke the cable part into the drive at the back of the clocks, get someone to hold it there. Attach a drill to the other end of the cable by clamping it in the chuck. Go vroom vroom and see if the speedo needle moves.

Odometer isn't part of the MOT.

No idea, if there is a number they will write that down. If there isn't a number, maybe they'll draw a smiley face or a pedo bear in the box?

Either way, it is not tested for the MOT.

A faulty odometer is only an issue if you claim that the mileage is accurate when you flog it.
