The rear shock on my bike has started squeaking, the bumper has disintegrated too.

So I'm stuck between replacing it at £800 for an ohlins or maybe reconditioning it - only 10k on the clock so it should be generally sound. Anyone done similar? What about replacing that bumper? It's meant to be replaced as one unit, but it seems a bit of a waste to replace it over a 20p part, but I can't find any bumpers with splits in them...

How much is a recon unit / to get yours reconditioned going to cost?

My time and the cost of a compression tool if I can figure out how to do it. Just looking for some pointers so far. Since posting I've read a bit more and it doesn't look too big a job.

Anyone recommend a decent lubricant to cure the squeaking? Lots of suggestions of wd40, but of course that'll only last a few weeks...
