Looking into fitting a set of Indicators on the Chaly.
Now I dont have, and cant justify the money for a loom on ebay. It's £100 upwards for anything relatively decent, and even then, I'd only have to lop all the plugs off to wire onto all my components, as they are aftermarket.
So I'm making up my own loom.
The other reason I am doing it this way, is because I do not intend to run a battery. I never have on any of my road legal pit bike builds, I just run a 5 coil stator plate, and power everything directly from the engine.
The basic loom I am fine with, wiring in an ignition barrel, lights, light switch, stop light front and rear (Lever and pedal) etc etc. No problem.
Little unsure of the indicator wiring though, so thought I'd ask.
Am I right in thinking, that to run the indicators, you run a permenant live, straight from a power source, into the relay.
Then out of the relay, up to the bars. Assuming the indicator switch will have one single input, then a dual output?
From the outputs, I run wiring to the left and right indicators.
Then when I indicate, a live feed is passed through the relay, up to the switch, which diodes between left and right, then down to the two bulbs.
I dont want an idiot light on the dash, as I wont be running any sort of dash. Just have a 60mm smith style speedo, plus, you can see the indicator right by your left or right knee when sat on the bike.
Cheers,

That's pretty-much it for a basic setup and old style 2-pin bi-metallic flasher unit, though there's no need for diodes.
Power to the flasher then on to the switch, left grounds the circuit through the left bulbs, right grounds it through the right bulbs.
Once the bulbs start drawing current the bi-metallic strip in the relay heats up and bends, breaking the contact, then the strip cools and straightens, making the contact - thus giving you an on-off flashing cycle. Tune the flash rate using different wattage bulbs. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
