Sorry if that seems inflammatory, but I really thought I'd found a great place to be, and now I'm not so sure. Crying or Very sad

After riding bikes for about 10 years, I can't get out much on runs, etc. now coz I've got a 6 month old baby and thought this site was a good bet for somewhere to feel part of the motorcycling community again even if I don't get to ride as much as I'd like to.

It seems to be the case though, that unless you've been on the forum for 'x' amount of months and met 'x' amount of people, you're seen as an outsider?

I'd love to stay and possibly meet with some of you one day but I'm feeling like the new kid that doesn't know any of the 'in' jokes and stands no chance of getting in the 'in crowd' - is it worth me hanging around or shall I just go back to the boring baby sites and chat about which is the softest nappy?

I'm really not meaning to flame, and sorry if I went on a bit but I'm genuinely concerned that I've intruded on a group of friends and new people aren't really welcome.

Hope you can prove me wrong!
Cath

You could try visordown but you'd get a much harder time there.

I havn't met anybody from here and dont find it a problem. Any forum you got on people are going to have their own little group of friends that they've met.

I think it's because the main people here have been around for years and are all good friends, plus they all hang around in the felching room ( I R C Razz ) and chat all day long....they have their own little clique Wink. It's like one of those country pubs, you walk in and everybody stares, then you get shouted at for sitting in alan's chair Laughing

The best way to get involved would be to hang around for a bit longer, then go and meet some of them I guess.

hi
OMG please dont go. I dont want anyone to go. Im not saying anyone has to do anything, its just nice if the the new people could meet up etc. To come and just leave due to a doddgy start is just wrong. Once you've been here a while you'll get into the swing of things, you'll be in with the in jokes, infact you'll be making them yourselves.

Though from reading your post, it (may not meant to be) but it sounds like you want everyone to like or something. People have tried to do this "look at me like me like me" thing and it just hasnt worked. Stay on the forum stick around have a laugh thats what its all about.

Must say that other post, kind of pissed me off, maybe wasn't meant that way, but doesn't make newbies seem welcome.

Honest, it's not that I want everyone to like me (although I don't want them to hate me either! Very Happy ) - it's just that I can't really get out much to meet people coz of the nipper and just wanted to check it was OK to hang around on without meeting everyone. Although having said that I will do my best to palm her off on someone for a day and go on a ride out sometime - promise!

Rest assured, she'll be on a mini-moto as soon as she's able to ride one! She sat up on her own for about 1/2 a minute this morning so she's well on her way!

Hi

Newbies are most welcome, and to be honest I don't regard you as a newbie anymore.

As I said in the other thread it is the tendency to have users who join, make a post of 2 and then disappear that I do not appreciate.

All the best

Keith

Perhaps we could organise a ride out to somewhere like the Welsh coast? That way we could get the various groups from around the country to meet up and ride to a general meeting point then head into Wales as a larger group. I realize that some people may not be able to do this as it would be a major ride, but hopefully a lot could make it.

Saying that, my wife could give birth at any time over the next few weeks so I'm trying to stay close to home! Shocked Rolling Eyes

Hehe, see what you mean, nice town Edinburgh.

First ride I went on, on my first bike was to North Wales. I wasn't allowed on motorways and on the way back I ran out of two stroke near the Wreakin on a Sunday night!

Edinburgh is nice but its better outside, interesting roads scenery etc, managed to scare myself few more times than I'm comfortable with on corners. Luckily theres not much Motorway up north. Bad luck running out Sunday night, I ran out last Sunday, luckily during the day.

Well I'm very near you atom and I work in the centre of Edinburgh. I've got no problems with newbie users or 125 riders. Just sold thee ol' NSR125 recently. I still feel like a newbie myself. Drop me a message some time and we can meet up if you like. Thumbs Up

Ok will do, I'm off to Fife this weekend. But after that. Suppose I'm a bit nervous about riding with Big Bike experienced rider, still fluffing turn, changing gears etc. Where abouts you work? I'm off the Meadows.

I work dead centre of Edinburgh on the Royal Mile. Don't worry I know how to treat a new rider. I've only been riding a year myself. I'll help you out with your riding if you like, give you some pointers etc. I'm not going to make you ride like a maniac or anything. Wink
