So, I was looking at getting some additional sprockets for the TT600R.

Mainly because today I hit the limiter in 5th up a hill.

I use the bike to commute down 20 miles of motorway and it revs fairly high, think its about 7k redline? If the gearing could be changed so it sits at a comfy 75 on the motorway (no speedo so estimation) I would be happy.

Currently its sitting on 17 inch sumo wheels so using gearing commander I should be hitting around 93mph at 6500rpm on the current gearing.

I'm happy to buy both a -1 and +1 tooth front sprocket and go for a -3 rear and a +4 rear.

Mainly because I can then switch for fun and road riding. Sound sensible? Not sensible as such but...would it work?

Buy another bike to commute on.

like an rf600 in fact Wink

It will work but it wont be ideal. swapping over front and rears each time would be dull. What type of bolt is it on the front? If it was two 10mil bolts or a circlip wouldn't be too bad.

No idea Laughing Its some form of bolt Neutral

I kow it might get boring but its simply doing the front for now...just to see if I can get lower rpm at long cruising speeds.

So, what... have three sets - your current setup, a +1F/-3R for top speed and cruising, and -1F/+4R for maximum attack riding?

I guess you already worked it out, but the changes you'll see will be dependent on the current setup, what gearing do you have at the moment? Got any kind of GPS log or the like to see what speed you're actually doing both flat-out on the limiter and at a "comfortable" rpm?

(What's the point in changing it to do an easy 75, if you're already doing that anyway? If the redline isn't til 7000 (and therefore limiter at 7500?), and 6500 = 93mph, that's not topping out til 100~107mph, and 75mph is at a relatively easy 5250 already. Not the easiEST, but hardly thrashing it. If 6500 is your peak power, it's equivalent to cruising at 4200 in a small car... a bit buzzy but nothing too unusual, about what I'd pull at 85 in my last one)

Don't forget you may need different chains to go with, or at least some extra links and a cutter/riveter.

Or you could do +1/-1 ... or +2/-2 (and -1/+1, -2/+2)...

Thats right

No idea on current gearing, but hitting the limiter on the motorway on a big single is probably not the best way to give it a long life. No GPS and no speedo.

Because its not a comfortable 75, getting to it, easy. Staying there without vibrating to bits, not easy. 4200 in a small car with more than 1 piston doing all the work. It definitely tops out under a ton.

I want fairly large differences though, so I notice it to be honest. Not shelling out any money for a small change, I want to have nice cruising on 1 set and a wheelie machine on the other. Thumbs Up
