Troll dad would swap it back, without telling him.

[insert PROBLEM? smiley here]

+1 for adding R6 stickers to the 125 too. Thumbs Up

I don't suppose it's any more illegal than the thousands of kids riding derestricted peds or RS125s. Still, I'd break his thumbs so he can't ride if he were mine Thumbs Up

Do us all a favour, including your son. Get the keys and have it moved so he can't ride it.

Swap it for an identical R1 and put the R6 stickers on it.

Majority of police wouldn't know the difference - and why should they - they've got a hell of a lot of things to know a little about. So it's only really going to be a cop in to his bikes that sees the L-plates on a 600.

Get the keys to the R125, snap them.
Get the keys to the R6, snap them.

BUT, technically...

I can say nothing, I have done far worse. Neutral

I suppose I would report his bike "stolen" so any ANPR would pick him up, rape him for driving without a licence and make him think about the error of his ways.

i'd have thought it fairly easy to distinguish between a 125 and a 600? He's been pretty jammy and would be seriously fooked if caught

You would think so but l myself have been stopped by local police in the past on a 250cc and a 650cc motorbike with the query "Where are your L plates?" Confused

How would a non-biker know an r6 wasn't a 125?
Some 125s weigh similar or even more than it and are a similar size or bigger. Plenty of 125s are loud and if it hasn't got a really silly can on it, is 'revvier' and likely quieter than some 125s.

steal his R6 with the 125 plates still on it and see if he makes an insurance claim, then bring the 125 to the insurance company with the R6 plates on Laughing

Would seize the bike too I'd imagine since his insurance would be void. If my kids ever did any shit like that I'd swallow the keys.

If he gets caught he can say hello to a lot of points and a decent fine, why is he even doing it?

It's not a case of if he gets caught, it's a case of when. I know plenty of Police Officers that will tell the difference at a glance, even without clues like the noise etc and he will be yanked instantly.

If I were you I'd tell him to stop being a complete idiot and to take his full licence if he wants to ride such a bike. If you want to ride big bikes, you have to earn the privilege by passing your test.

Make sure you tell him how much it will shaft him when caught too, his insurance will skyrocket and if he gets the minimum of six points for no insurance then when he does pass his full test (assuming he doesn't have a car licence yet) he'll be at six points already, meaning one more point = bye bye licence.

He's running a stupid, stupid risk, tell him to pull his head out of his arse. If he doesn't listen, just let him keep going, he will find out eventually when he gets pulled and rings you up going: "Dad, the Police pulled me over and they're confiscating my bike!".

MTFU - Give your lad a slap round his noggins for being a twonk and take keys and R6 off him until he passes his test.

Ok so lets do a run down of what he is likely to be done with if he gets caught:

1.) Riding not in accordance with his license. If he's very unlucky, he'll get done for riding while unlicensed.

2.) Riding without insurance.

3.) Perverting the course of justice. This might be a hard one to make stick, but if the police want to do it, they could for swapping the plate.

4.) Riding without valid Road tax.

5.) anything else the police decide to pin on him because they take a dim view of this stuff.

Seriously, why the hell are you on here asking us when you should be out there getting the bike lifted and crushed? That's what I would do, it would be saving him from a worse fate (IE a criminal record) and it would teach him a lesson.

Jeez, no wonder he's taking the piss with a soft touch father like you!

Persuade? Are you not wanting to kick his arse? Let alone the fact that he is being incredibly dumb he's really REALLY taking the piss out of you. He's an ungrateful shit. How much did you pay for the bike you gave him?
Tell him he's paying for the 125 or you're having it back. With the plates, and then he can see how far he gets.

If he can afford to buy an R6, he can afford to take his test. The only question is, do you punish the little bellend yourself, or let the police do it?

Would he be looking at jail time if caught without license / insurance / correct numberplates / brain cells?

Ask him if he knows and understands the consequences. Then explain the consequences again Laughing .

He's 20. Legally a man. Let him fall on his own sword. Tell him he's getting no lift from the cop-shop if he gets collared.

If he's still bothering to listen then say you'll help him best you can to get a license.

Probably looking at a lengthy driving ban, eye watering fine and community service...

And after all that when he tries to ride again, his insurance company will be cracking open the champagne courtesy of your son's yearly premium...

I agree with Howling Terror.

He's 20, he's made his bed so let him sleep in it.

The RIGHT thing to do would be to dob him in but I can understand why a father wouldn't want to do this to his son. Blood is thicker than water and all that.

If he's caught, he'll be looking at a 4-figure fine, somewhere between 6 and 12 penalty points, a potential driving ban and confiscation of the bike. If he knows this and carrys on, it shouldn't come as a surprise to him when/if it happens.

A history like that will make him uninsurable for many years. There again, he's riding with no licence or insurance now so why would he care?

An R6 is a pretty small motorbike and the R1/8th you got him was deliberately styled to look like one. I can easily see how a ley person would not notice a difference.

Coopers are very ignorant about motorcycles. I've had one demand to see my CBT certificate when he stopped me riding a 350 and had been shown my full bike licence.

I just hope he doesn't crash into some other poor bugger as an uninsured driver and either injure them or fuck over their insurance history as a result of his stupidity.

I'm having a bit of a hard time swallowing the idea that this is real. I'm a father of five children, three of them in their 20s. If I discovered something similar about one of them, would my first thought be, "I should join an Internet discussion forum and see what random strangers think about this"?

When he is involved in an accident, he will be fuc*ed!; lets hope he doesn't kill anyone. You need to report him asap, he will never learn.

He is the reason why insurance is so expensive for younger riders.
