After being bikeless for the best part of 12 months I'm now considering the above..

Anything in particular to look for, good points/bad points any particular model to go for, Ive got a budget of about £2k.

Any advice appreciated.

Thank you please..

You'll get a nice one for £2k, avoid C1 models, they eat gearboxes. I put a Z1000 box in my old one.

Comfy, quick, I never got on with the suspension and thought it was fairly physically big. Good for distance, took me all around europe.

zx9r.net for loads of info.

Only sold it as I value my license and have little self restraint.

If it comes with the Tokico 6 pots . . . be prepared for some ball ache.
Everyone I know running these brakes has had problems with them and ultimately ended up swapping them out. Neutral

I'm 6ft2 (maybe a little over) and I fit on a 9r no problem. Used mine everyday for commuting to uni and it was as useable in rush hour traffic as it was on the a-roads and twisty b-roads.

It's blisteringly quick, although I didn't find it at all unhinged... It accelerates pretty quickly without any hint of wheelie/head shaking. It does feel like a big bike, but it handles its size well. I found mine to be really stable and predictable... It's like play-fighting with a Labrador rather than poking a tiger with a stick.

I did 300miles in one day on it and aside from a desperately numb bottom, there was no issues. On that subject, I know a guy who's trade is re-upholstery (he had a ratty old focus with the most immaculate bright yellow leather interior I've ever seen) and he's going to have a look at making the seat a lot more comfortable for the longer distances.. Mine is a C1 with original gear box and 6pots, so I am budgeting to upgrade both, although mine needs a few other bits and bobs at the moment too, so I'll probably do it all at once over winter.

Oh, and falling off them hurts!

No reason to go for anything older than an E model for that money.

I got this E1 for £2k with ohlins rear shock and ohlins front springs, race can, paddock stand, abba stand, stock can, panniers and tank bag.

Was over in Ireland a couple of weeks back and gave the bike a good look over (with family, so had to leave old blue over there) and I reckon the tyres are shonky. Especially given the fact that both our offs were down to the rear losing traction. Did you put the bridgestones on there, or were they there when you bought it boundy?

(Oh and she's coming home soon, reckon she'll be good as new by christmas)

The tyres were on there when I got it but I can't blame them, I'd done some round about surfing no problem then fell of at a snails pace Embarassed Laughing

I was looking through the service history and old MOTs and an educated guess going by mileages etc would put those tyres at nearly 8years old, if not 9 Shocked . On top of that, the tyre feels like a plastic one on a kiddies trike rather than supple rubber like the ones on my triumph.

Funnily enough I'd done some pretty quick riding through some very twisty mountain roads that weekend (was succeeding in removing the chiken strips), yet I was downed by a bog standard mirror signal manoeuvre on approaching a mini roundabout at a gentle pace on my way back to the ferry. Weird eh?

EDIT:
Apologies mooserx for the thread hi-jack. If you get a 9r, I'd be tempted to change the tyres if it comes with bridgestone 020s!
