Hi,

Have a question for you guys. With the bandit subframe its welded to the main frame correct?

If I were to cut the old subframe off and to weld mounting brackets for a new one, would this support the weight 2 up?

Cheers,
Rob.

If it was done properly it should but even manufactures have got it wrong in the past.

If you don't know if it'll be strong enough do you really think you should be pissing about with it?

It's been done plenty of times in the past with a Bandit with no real problems but the majority will be sports type bike subframes with no intention of taking a pillion, do yourself a favour and get a proper engineer/welder to do it for you,

It would be a guy from work who did it, just wanted to know if it would be strong enough for 2 up..

More importantly why would you want to do this? It appears to serve little purpose other than de-valuing and making it less safe.

It would be to put it back to standard as I've seen a bandit thats had someone hit it blind with an angle grinder and wondered if I could cut it completely and weld a standard one back on.

Hunt for another frame. Some complete on the bay for £80 + or so

I wouldn't take the word of some strangers on the internet to tell you its safe.

If it turns out it isn't, the results would be pretty dramatic / fatal should it snap.

Not to mention the bloke on the back kicking shit out of you when / if he finds out its a lash up.
