hey guys, i am new to ridering and i am going for my learner liscense in a month (australia). and i just been researching on all da possibility of bikes i can get hold on, and i came up with 2 conclusion:

Honda CBR250RR (4stroke) and the Aprilia RS125(2stroke)

now, i been hearing bad stuff about 2 stroke engines and how they are unreliable. can anyone explain further? i like the aprilia design more and the fact that they are much cheaper then the CBR250RR (overpriced). so, yeh..please explain.. Very Happy

also, for all Aprilia RS125 riders out there. can you tell me about the performance of the bike? like 0-100 in how mnay seconds? can you keep up with the CBR's?

Well, thats really it. well, if you have any other bikes that you think i should get..plz suggests....i mainly want a sporty learner.... Thumbs Up

Full power CBR250 should be making a very easy 40BHP, full power RS125 wont be anywhere past about 30BHP as standard.

CBR250 will sound alot better aswell imo, Probably handle as well if not better.

I assume you mean 0-100kmh? Thats about 6-7secs they reckon.

The CBR is a much better bike and its a 4stroke so it wont blow up!

The 0-100 or the rs is like 15minutes with a MASSIVE hill.
The CBR will sound much better and for a first bike it will be much better as your 2nd bike will definitly be a four stroke and if you get the rs you will get used to the two stroke way of riding.

i say CBR!!
Very Happy

Get a kwak KR1-S they are well and truely pocket rockets. I think the official top speed is around 136mph and they can make 59bhp at the rear wheel. Compare that to the CBR250 Laughing

There is also the RGV250, RS250, TZR250, NSR250 etc. Much better than 4 stroke 250's, just not as torquey.

Most if not all Aus states will not let you have a high performance 2 stroke 250 as a learner.

All the best
