First thing, on my way to work (in the car) battery light came on on dash. And today I supposed to go to get my bike, grrrr. Last time it happens I had to change alternator (300 quid lighter), so was really p... off. Took to the garage, they called around noon, this time new battery was needed - £100. Got the car back so could get the bike

And at this point today gets better. Bike in really good condition, 2 brand new tyres, exhaust in very good condition, breaks just done, only tint scratch on fairings, 27k miles on the clock.

It is Suzuki Bandit GSF 600S, from 2000. I'm so happy. What a difference between this and Yammy YBR125.

Only bad thing for me, no fuel level indicator, can it be helped in any way? Are there after market ones? How one checks fuel level?

Any advice about bandits in general?

Can't stop smiling

Use the trip function - brim the tank, ride it until reserve and work out how many miles you do. Use that as a reference Wink

Or, do what I do, open the tank and slosh it a bit to see what is in there.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I think it will be on carburetors, so you don't get a warning light, you get a 3 position fuel tap...

On - is the position you want it in almost all the time
Res - Reserve, this takes fuel from lower down in the tank so that when you run out you switch to this and have about 20-30 miles to find petrol
Pri - Prime, for when the carb's are dry of fuel. The fuel tap will turn itself off without the engine running in the other settings (using vaccum from one of the carbs) This setting forces it open so you can fill the carbs without flattening the battery trying to start it.

If you are going to ride it until it coughs and note the mileage then double check it's not set to Reserve... It's been done before Laughing

Fuel tap for on, prime and reserve.

Leave it on "ON" and when its low, put it on RES and find a petrol station. Thumbs Up

Thanks guys, good advice Smile

Bought from advert on MCN and quite useful thing they have there - 7 days free insurance, just needed to make phone call - simples Very Happy

Now hunting for proper insurance - best £103 TPFT - not bad - and most quotes are from Equity Star. If anything goes bad and I need to claim, who do I deal with underwriter or broker?

its generally all handled by the broker. If it wasn't your fault go straight to the other person's insurance
