Cameras for motorcycle events?

What sort of cameras do you lot use for taking shots of motorsports?

My Cannon Ixus 75i is finally dying, and to be frank, was not the best camera for taking pics of anything moving at speed (coupled with my lack of camera knowledge of course ). Want to take some pics or motocross and trials, so had a look at some DSLR's, holy sheep are they expensive O.o

Are there any lower end DSLR's that would be good enough to take motorbike action shots nearer £200?

I had a quick look about and saw a cheapy, not quite SLR but has a big zoom, camera, the Fujifilm FinePix 2950 and 4000. Both sub £200, neither of which I am sure about. Are either of them good enough to take pics of moving bikes with any real SLR ability?
