Can you be failed for messing these up or is it pretty lenient?

I don't think I have a cut out switch on my bike, so wtf should I do?

Reflectors as in those things you have attached to the spokes on bicycle wheels? Don't have them either.

These are stupid questions but I don't want to bomb £75 down the drain because I couldn't remember the 7 pieces of advice to give to a pillion passenger. Do you really have to learn all this by heart?

You can acquire 1 minor for failing to answer a show me tell me question, but you ought to be able to give a reasonable reply. You aren't expected to be word perfect as per the text, just your understanding of each element asked should suffice.

You should have a cut out switch - a red flip switch placed just above throttle on your bike.

Also your bike shoud have rear reflector fitted - usually a red reflective strip placed just below rear brake light - or as some riding schools occasionally cover up this woth an L plate, a bike may sometimes have small circular reflected studs on actual number plate - these obv should be kept clean at all times.

My bike doesn't have a cut out switch. I think someone said it's something to do with it being fuel injection??

They probably look to see if your bike has one before asking.

Also I don't have a specific reflector per se but my brake light casing has a slightly raised rectangle of reflective plastic.

But honestly just relax, you can find the list of possible questions on the dvla site I think, it's a piece of cake.

Fuel injection has nothing to do with it having a cutout switch or not.

It might have an automatic "crash" switch, which cuts the fuel when triggered by an extremely high lean angle (ie bike on its side) or if there is a high g force registered, such as in an impact. Just a semi-educated guess, I know some cars have those to cut the engine in even a fairly small crash.

itll either have a kill switch or a tilt switch / sensor. best you find out whats on your
bike, of he asks and you just state, dont have one, and you have a different system,
then it'll be a minor..

If you have neither and he asks, just state so, and go through the
motions as if you has one..

rear reflectors, needed for an MOT, your bike could be deemed unroadworthy by
the examiner if its missing.

of course you have to learn all of it.. its a bloody test. if you dont know it and fluff
up enough of the questions plus a couple of minors on the road you will fail.

its hardly rocket science.

would you walk in to a theory test and say, oh ive forgot the answers, let me pass anyway?

He examiner only expects you to answer questions related to your bike. If you don't have a kill switch then tell him so. The questions are pretty standard stuff that anyone should already know and as long as you make a reasonable attempt at answering correctly you will be fine. They don't ask you all the questions anyway, only 2 or 3.

The examiner wont ask you to show him/her the operation of the kill switch if you don't have one. They aren't actually total knobs - they can see you don't have one.

Reflectors on the back of the bike - for lights just put your gloved hand in front and see if it puts a light beam on your glove.

Questions like, what should your tyre pressures be should be met with "as indicated in the user manual"

^ This.

If you pop in to your local bike MOT place they should be able to give you a stick on reflector about the size of a 10p piece, will cost about a £1. Stick it on the rear of the bike, or on the numberplate and your away.

Would want to run the risk of some jobsworth cancelling your test for the sake of something so easily avoidable.

Whatever you do, good luck Thumbs Up
