Probably does a good line in stripy pyjamas. Genocide-trolling for free publicity, very astute.

The cute little swastika above the I kind of belies his assertion that it's just named after a relative and that he only learned about that Hitler recently.

Free publicity, trebles all round!

Not that I think it has any bearing on the matter but, wasn't the swastika a Hindu religious symbol, way before the nazis claimed it?

Have some light reading

Although it is missing the dots and is at an angle which does actually indicate the nazi store

as for the owner of the shop: "Not sure if trolling or stupid"

I'd shop in Hitler, being afraid of his name only gives him more power, HIS NAME IS HITLER. I learneded that from harry potter.

It seems like almost anything short of throwing shekels their way will always offend some jew or another. They are the most offended people around....or is it the most offensive?

Let the oke have his Hitler store. You dont like it, dont shop there.

Also pre-WW2 used by Carlsberg brewery (see here) based on the Sanskrit meaning "That is good" (or similar). It's also carved on the elephants at the brewery. The original is a square. The Nazi version was deliberately rotated and so a diamond shape. IIRC also the ancient version more often pointed to the left.

Agree using Hitler name for a shop with that swastika style symbol was just for publicity and to get recognised. They want money to change it!

Eddie Hitler would be livid!

I alwys thought that the swastika was a peace symbol first and a Nazi thing second, just that us in the western world know it first as Nazi and peace secondly. But I can't believe that anyone in the modern world doesn't know about Hitler, especially those who live by Jews who for some reason have a fixation on him.

Mein Campf was on the best sellers list in my local bookshop all the time I lived in Pune.

Hitler is very well known in India, any claim from this business man to the contrary is just made up. Good job on the free publicity though - he'll be raking it in for months on this one.

And yes, the swastika is a symbol in most of the religions over there - with or without dots and in all different rotations. But, it's very rare to face that way and be rotated at 45°. The name Hitler and the very clearly nazi swastika is not a coincidence...

In the old cathedral in Coventry (the one that the Luftwaffe blew the roof off) is the tomb of a 19C Bishop. On his mitre (hat) is a peace symbol in the shape of a swastika, quite ironic when you think about it.
BTW before you condemn the Indians have a look at the flag of the IOM.

That is a triskelion, not a Swastika.

AWB triskelion, some what similar to a Swastika.

There was also a Waffen SS division that used a triskelion too, its a Symbol used by Celtic/Germanic/Nordic etc cultures.

In Korea it is commonly found on Buddhist temples, it's even frequently used on maps to denote a temple.

It's blatant attention seeking for shock value, like punks with swastikas shocking those who had been in the war.

The Indian chaps smug smile says it all.

I'm not sure people trying to shock should be treated as harshly as racists, but it is a bit insensitive.
