New bike :) 1989 zxr 750 h1 NOW WITH PICS

So after making the decision to give up biking i had a lucky turn and found a job and someone bought my xj so it was time to find a new bike.

Friend of mine has a zxr 750 that she purchased as a project (project for her as she makes her bikes near factory finish)
but has another project on the go so it had sat doing nothing for a while, offerd it to me and i happily accepted.

Cosmeticly its not brilliant, someone tried to paint the frame, plastics had been removed for slight work to the bike and have slight scuffs aswell as the current tank being pretty damaged, it comes with a spare tank so i just need to clean it up then its sorted.

Wrote this whilst i can be botherd, picking it up in about 3 hours i will add pics when im back then turn this into a tidy up thread Smile

couple of pics for now.

runs but struggles on 1 cylinder suspectted carb issue.

Not much done atm, got issue with wiring, horn dosen't work not getting power to switch and indicators are being stupid.

Previous previous owner painted the frame black ruined it then tried to remove it and made it worse so set about removing the black and polishing.

using a brilo pad and elbow grease to remove the paint comes up quite nicely.

fixed horn, turns out i had a broken wire and the bike has a permanent live running through it.

valve clearances, do them,
the h1's are notorious for the valves eating into the seats,
clearances get too tight, bam, burnt out valve,

its a bucket over shim design, which means cams have to come out to change the shims, cunt of an idea

most of paint off the frame looks good now Very Happy

rev counter working
indicators all flashing at 110 per minute (bit high but legal)
numberplate light working
brake lights working.

still running rich as fuck but can't do anything till my big box of goddies arrives Very Happy
