Well this will be fun to sort out

Got sent this through the post to my old address telling me I drove through a bus lane and have a penalty charge notice...hahaha;

https://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/Neileng/Picture034.jpg

So what's wrong with this you ask?

Here's a clue;

https://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/Neileng/Picture033.jpg

a) I dont own that van
b)I dont have a driving license
c)I have not been driving in Liverpool

AND d)here's the best part, do a Google search on that reg number and you will find out.

I bet I know which bus lane it is in Liverpool as well, the bastard gets thousands upon thousands a year cos it's poorly signed and you used to be able to drive down the road its on, now you have to go round a ridiculous one way system. That's what we get for having a transport planner who doesn't even have a driving licence.

Anyway, it's not you, so that's kind of irrelevant haha, rant over. Some major balls up in the system there then hey!

I did google the reg but I don't get it, nothing really comes up - is it GN04 AWR?

It should be on a KTM, does that photo actually show GN or GM though?

Worryingly, if that photo does actually say GN, it may be worth you speaking to the police?

:edit:

Just searched BCF, and that is pretty stupid, but why would somebody but a bike reg onto a car?

That'd be this thread from 23 Oct 2010 then...

Well I had my KTM for a grand total of a week, had it stolen from outside my girlfriends house, it is in the Camberley area, specifically Blackwater. If you see it please let me know;

Reg number GN04 AWR. It is a KTM 450 exc racing...

It will be interesting. I take it the police still have that as a stolen vehicle. Didn't the insurance pay out? If so why are you still registered keeper? I'd be having words!

Very Happy

P.S. Google search as in google.co.uk for "gn 04 nwr" registration.[/quote]

Explained now though! Wow, who would be silly enough to put a bike plate on a van?! You'd at least go nick the plate off the same van , there's blinkin loads of em!

How weird, when I google it split like that, THIS thread comes up, but the other thread is nowhere to be seen. I think I broke google. I didn't type "google" into it. Honest.

Yup that's right Map, that's the thread.

The reg number on the photo and on the paperwork is a spot on match for the Stolen KTM.

No idea why they would use that reg number as a fake plate, pretty stupid to be honest. What shocks me is that it's not been picked up before.

Sadly I have to sort this out to why I am the registered owner as I had the payout for this bike and get this fine off my back. Anything past that I really don't care about.

I doubt it's in 'that' van look at it, you couldn't get an KTM exc in one of them. Plus it was nicked 2 years ago.

Not sure what the police could do about it to be honest. They will have to look for a van in Liverpool, that's quite a task!

I assume you reported the KTM stolen?

If not... its cheap insurance for the van Laughing Get insurance on KTM, ~£200, cheap tax...anpr won't bat an eyelid... MOT time however... So I expect owner of van to have access to MOT centre or bike Wink

If that van is insured (you're not supposed to use askmid if it's not yours are you!) only reason(s) I can think of if is (1) DVLA have re-issued the number and it's been purchased as some sort of private plate. Or (2) it's part of a stolen vehicle reselling scam (DVLA are issuing red V5C forms to replace blue ones because a lot of blank blue were stolen) and the buyer/driver/owner is just a patsy.

Still doesn't explain why insurance company didn't update records correctly. Oh, wait, silly me, it's an insurance company Rolling Eyes Doh!

Better you tell them whats happened than them coming knocking at your door asking why and how they've got your plates

Or sending penalty notices to you Wink
Don't let the scumbags get away with it, they've obviously had something to do with your bike if they've got your plates, they probably robbed the van too

And I don't know, that guy got 2 bikes in his crappy little hatchback on here

not as much as you would think. There are number plate readers ALL over Liverpool, epecially the city centre, in and out the tunnels, motorway, petrol stations. I'm surprised they aint been caught out already. Get it reported.

Not likely if for some reason the plate matches the vehicle and is on the insurance database.

Yeah looks like I might have to, don't really want this to keep happening.

Here's a question though, when an insurance company pays out on a stolen vehicle, are they not suppose to get the V5 re-issued to them? I sent them the keys, and docs for the claim as they asked.

Quite possible they have resold the reg again, but unlikely as i am still on their systems as the owner. Another case of a DVLA failure or the insurance companies failure. Got to find that info now as well. Not even sure I have that.

Doh!

It's NOT showing on the insurance database Wink Seriously, how they haven't been caught in Liverpool already and the police haven't already come knocking at your door over an uninsured vehicle is beyond me.

Negative.

The vehicle details for GN04 AWR (KTM) are:

Date of Liability 01 04 2011
Date of First Registration 02 04 2004
Year of Manufacture 2004
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 450cc
CO2 Emissions 0g/Km
Fuel Type PETROL
Export Marker N
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour ORANGE
Vehicle Type Approval Not Available
Vehicle Excise Duty rate for vehicle
6 Months Rate £30.25
12 Months Rate £55.00

So yeah, still reg as a KTM. You did report as stolen to the police when it was taken right? That should have flagged up LOADS since that was ages ago...

What the hell,

It doesn't flag as stolen?

Yeah I called the police about 10 mins after, insurance company wouldn't pay out without the police crime number.

WTF is going on! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Only the police would have a stolen vehicle marker I believe.

This is just DVLA, they do not need another box for manual data entry, trust me.

Go to the press, and hope they pour some scorn on the DVLA and all the other "agencies" involved!
Send a copy to your MP and tell him/her to sort it, might drop someone in the doo doo!
