Are they failing MOT's for lack of a mark now, or is it just a ticket off the cops?
If there's a mark needed - what is it please? BSAU/EC or what? I can print one out on metallised paper if needed but I need to know asap coz my exhaust is home made Smile

Didn't check for that at my last mot recently. Think the exhaust is custom made by a company called rilmac and doesn't have any stamps or baffles in.

Nice! Can also get removable baffles on eBay. Never tried them though.

For the MOT it needs to be as quiet as a standard system in reasonable condition in the opinion of the MOT tester (who could be deaf).

All the best

They don't normally take to much notice,
It all depends on the MOT station that you are going to, as long as it's not excessively loud !

I don't know of any standard systems that are 3" straight through so I better hope the tester's tinnitus is acting up Very Happy

Cheers guys.

Find an MOT station that's run by bikers for bikers.
I was under the impression that no markings are fine, the only markings an MOT man had to consider are 'not for road use' - has this changed??

In which case, you grind that off with a dremel Wink

It was done before I got the bike officer.

If you have to explain to an officer why your can is suffering grinder marks then you deserve it! Get a mate with a steadier hand to do it next time Wink

Sack that off Laughing Too much effort and its only small and underneath so I can't get a sticker there. If I really could be bothered I would drill out the rivets, flip the little strap inside out and re-rivet it, sorted Thumbs Up

Personally I don't really care about loud exhausts. If they're blowing badly then obviously it's an issue. I very rarely fail a bike for an exhaust. In my opinion it's got nothing to do with the safety of the machine. I hate having to fail a number plate too, but some people take the piss with their tiny plates. They could at least TRY to make my life easier. Laughing

I'm very considerate. Ride in, borrow a screwdriver, change my plate, put bike in bay and then swap back while he's doing the paperwork Wink

Stop round - I'll be busy fitting the datalogger tomorrow, and fixing a couple of niggles like a broken wire on the fan switch. Gotta raise the ride height a bit as it's too low and grounds out the exhaust on right handers. For now, the fairings are staying off just whilst I get it settled in.
