CG CDi conversion

For any one interested I fitted a Honda CG Brazilian engine to a N reg CG that runs on CDi by bolting the generator and side cover from my old CDi engine to the brazilian and used https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280792532218?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_3090wt_908 to correct the timing due to the longer stroke on the brazilian

Honistly no idea, After doing the conversion I had a issue where the spark plug was being coated in black soot and the engine would hesitate and not rev correctly. Had the carb checked and adjusted but no luck, after installing the new cdi and having a quick fiddle its running better but have not sat down and fully configured everything

if you are using the brazil carb make sure the accelerator pump cable is free moving and the linkage is adjusted properly.If set wrong this can cause a rich mixture and soot the plug up and cause the engine to 'cough' on acceleration.

when installing aftermarket cdi kits/coils make sure the trigger magnet in the flywheels are compatable,,,i.e. that the position on the 360 degree circle is the SAME,in position and size,if not then the spark will be slightly out,

fortunatly,undertuned simple donky engines like the cg types,using one cam for symmetrical valve timing are very forgiving.note that chinese cg clones look identical but have many internal differences so beware swapping old n new 'cg' bits.when buying secondhand engine spares measure everything.
