Been after one of these for a long while. Waaay back in early 2009 I went to Mallory with jay81 and beatnck2,
I spotted the 636 B1h's on track and instantly fell in love with thunderous motor and evil looking frown.. thing is I wanted the stealth look and that would involve stripping the whole bike just to powdercoat the frame.
Anyway after a few years, a trackday on the RVF, a downsize (CD200),
Another license loss and nearly a year of riding my Dad's Trumpet Sprint 955i I decided that getting a 636 would be counter-productive.
So I thought ah why not, I want power that excites me.

A few months in a new job, switching from a skanking insurer to get a reasonable quote and this is what I went out and got:
https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/DSC_2699.jpg

It's taken me a while (been commuting and hooning on it for 5 weeks now)
But I thought I'd get it polished up and call beatnck out to get some nice photo's.

https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/DSC_2694.jpg

So in the past 5 weeks... I had two flat tyres in two days in only my second week of ownership, I blew a fuse..
I got wet a lot commuting and even on the odd hoon, lots of sliding into corners on the brakes and even a few back end slip outs in the wet..
I experienced a few very scary tank slappers at 120+ (so I then went about setting up the suspension properly, which has offered resolution).
Also knee down has been had, but it's damned uncomfortable to do at the moment and nowhere near as natural as on the RVF,
The bike is sitting high at the rear at current so lowering it may help I hope...
Also I've learnt a few things, it clutches up VERY fast so I've decided over the past few days to also try powerwheelies,
which are even less predictable tbh Laughing
I've had a few stupid moments in the mornings on the way to work.. I can make the 9 mile commute comfortably in 10 minutes..
When tired and not having given myself a full 10 minutes however I'm prone to not riding to my usual capability...

The result: https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/DSC_2697.jpg
I came up to the main Powick/Worcester roundabout with 3 lanes, the right hand lane backed up all the way as per usual, the middle lane occupied by a woman in a yellow car..
I was in the left hand lane following a dithering People carrier.
In my usual grace I would have slid in between the people carrier and yellow car and through a clear rounabout..
However as I came up to their bumpers, both parties slowing to a 15mph crawl the woman started closing up the gap as if she was intending to go right into the MPV Shocked

Now my mistake was not taking this seriously-
(rushing, I ride fast allot but I don't like to rush, ever! I consider rushing to be very dangerous, acting beyond ones ability to process thoughts and actions/reactions)..
-so I could have just dropped back, but no.. I kept on and accelerated to clear the gap, with a minimal movement to the left..
Next thing a loud bang.. I feel the center of her front left wheel rotating against the slider of my boot,
I don't know exactly whether I brushed off with my knee or just righted but just as quickly as we met I had disconnected and was well away..
I thought it had just been a slight brush but when I cleared the roundabout I looked over down to see that..
a further check later showed that to be the only damage, bar a tyre smudge on my exhaust can.

I'm thinking that the womans front wheel ran into my peg and snapped it clean in half (I wander if it damaged her tyre)
or whether I caught it off the wheel arch (also ouch for her if that was the case).
It wasn't until I got to work that I thought maybe I should have stopped to check she and her car was ok but to be honest I was just concentrating on surviving the incident at the time.

Hooliginism and foolishness aside.. It's such a win bike, miles of smiles, I've covered 1,600 on it myself so far, taking it to a total of 16.6k.
Still on the original chain, the previous owner looked after this one a treat, regular cleans and relubes, I only just adjusted the chain (for the 3rd time in it's life) on Friday.

I've ordered everything to give it a two year service.
I removed the ZX9R.net decals from the screen (which I actually quite liked - previous owner was KD) the gay ass ninja decals and the Datatag and Meta warning stickers from the tank..
I opted to keep the ZX10-R decals and the Nürburgring sticker, which I should have to make the trip to justify one day soon Mr. Green All for that stealth look of course.

It currently has headlight covers, MRA db screen, R&G crash bungs; front spindle protectors and swingarm spools, tail tidy, goodridge lines and a solo cowl and a K&N airfilter.
I also have a Brembo 18/19 MC to fit (and I might be able to fit a Brembo rear MC if it's any good) also included was a luggage rack, original seat and screen and another headlight unit converted to dual beam with HID
(which seems to be lost in the post at current)...

Future plans for PCIII, Arata full Ti system, GPR steering damper and Gilles rearsets, would like to try out Brembo SC pads on the front (just ran in a set of SP rears over the weekend)

Oh and big props to Nick for the brilliant scenic photo's!

Cheers,
Mac.

Pretty damn sexy bike. Sounds fast in a scary way.

Exhaust is needed ASAP!

Hey thanks, I think so too.. in choosing this I wanted to get something as close to the B1h as possible, and I'd read that this is the model of mayhem.

Yeh, scary fast.. I've been improving but I haven't go the best feel for the brakes yet, they just don't have enough initial bite to give the right feel.. having said that it does slow down very fast, just the feedback isn't great at the moment.. so like I said I've found myself sliding into corners quite (when I do brake that is).
I think the brembo MC will be more suited to me, but then I should make the effort to be as efficient with the current set-up as I can, the chassis just works for me.. I hit 170mph on the first night of owning it and have managed to maintain higher speeds on my favourite road sections with more confidence and higher cornering entry and holding speeds than I even managed on the RVF..
I've out ridden the limits of the BT021 (180 not 190 section) that I currently have on the rear and I've even started using the full rev range a bit more...

That much power was just scary as fuck to begin with.
I just need to apply my bike learning to the brakes a bit more (more progressive on the front) maybe sticky rubber will also help.

Cheers,
Mac.

Join MCN Ninja's for more specific info on the bike. Nice guys there. I recall reading that the Tokica brakes need to be upgraded for track so I assume it isn't the best. Brembo was the name I saw too.

Cheers,
Mac.

Common thing on the ZX10r's to snap a peg. Done this on the way home in the highlands.
Hunted ebay for ages to get a replacement, but ended up getting used to it and kept the 1/2 one on.

There are pegs all over ebay now, just I can't be bothered to spend £20 on one when I'm toying with the idea of buying the Gilles soon.

Cheers,
Mac.

I don't see how that's at all related to this thread. Comments like that are rather uncalled for considering that the situation regarding Barbecues has already been explained to you several times. If you care to check the BBQ thread then you'll see the photos of the Barbecues from both nights.

It's for reasons such as this that people consider you to be a complete arsehole. It's blatantly obvious that nobody here likes you and it escapes me as to why you continue to frequent these forums considering that even in real life hardly anybody spoke to you, and from what I hear when you spoke to certain other people you came across as rather agressive and somewhat intimidating. Way to attempt to rectify your online image there.

I genuinely don't see the need for stabs at other members in completely unrelated threads. If you want to talk about it, post in the right thread at least. That way at least more people that were there can give you bad karma.

Now, back on topic. Mac, that bike looks sweet. I'm not sure I'm keen on the screen or the exhaust but other then that it looks damn good. Oh, and it has a twisted subframe Wink

You were correct garth, my mistake.. I realised this the other day Very Happy
Never mind, an 020 it no longer is, bald as now.. Tonight I picked up two rears and a front, part worn Supercorsa SC0's.
It's time to see what this bike can really do on propper black, booked in for a chrono day at Donnington on Friday.

The bike got fresh oil and a filter on Saturday a swell as cleaning the K&N.
I got the brembo MC fitted and stripped and cleaned the rear caliper today (it's been seizing since fitting the brembo pads) and going to be filled and bled tomorrow, apart from that a full service with new fluids and iridium plugs.

Can't wait til Friday. Mr. Green Thumbs Up

Cheers,
Mac.
