Yes it is 100% worth it, and you won't look stupid on an RS125 and the chances are, in full leathers, you'll get more respect/nods from other bikers.

I know I'm 100% more inclined to acknowledge someone wearing full leathers on the roads, than I would if they were in shorts and t-shirts (altho that goes for any bike really)

So yes Thumbs Up get full leathers and be safe!

Yes if you like your legs, feet and living. Legs are about two thirds the length of your torso and contain as much blood. It's funny that people are happy to wear a decent protective jacket and only jeans on their legs. You can die from road rash through bleeding to death from loss of skin and your legs have lots to loose.

Sorry for the dreary post but I read a story yesterday that's not nice. Better safe than sorry. Thumbs Up

The majority of injuries are to the lower legs and feet simply because it is often the first point of impact in a crash, but many people think that a jacket is the most important bit of kit, normally the jacket is the least important bit of kit!

Definatley worth it. If you need any proof, read the post "A sad one" in general chat. Not sure how to post links though.

Definatly worth it. I bought my self some Draggin' Jeans. I always wear them now along with my boots and leather jacket. I know I look like a twat on my bike, but its better than looking like a red mess on the tarmac eh? Thumbs Up

I guess because without a jacket you feel more exposed, whereas without leather jeans and boots you don't get that same feeling of being exposed?

I'd say it depends on if you're looking at staying with biking and not going to sell the RS in six months etc. I don't want to start the 'bcf safety team' off Razz but I'd recommend actually riding the thing first and seeing if it's what you want to do. No use spending £300+ on a set of leathers only to sell them on soon after at a loss. I'd also think about getting maybe leather trousers with a textile jacket etc. Bit more versatile if you ask me Thumbs Up

I think leathers look daft on a 125 but the joke's on me when I have no legs.

As someone said "Falling off an NSR125 at 80 will hurt as much as falling off an R1 at 80".

So yes, good idea if you can afford it, but they're that expensive.

Definatly, I was amazingly lucky (if you can call it that) just to get just a small scratch on my knee when I crashed wearing jeans and a leather jacket. Oddly enough my jacket and shoulder were ripped to shreads (still with dressings on today) but my legs were perfectly fine, and the jeans I was wearing are still perfectly fine to wear. But like everyone says the legs are the first to go down so the mind boggles as to how I got away with my legs intact, all I can say was it was luck as I didn't go down taking any special care towards them, just sort of flumped to the ground (as was then ran over by my riderless bike) Embarassed . I really should get leather trousers myself, but god knows what I would look like on a Kh100 with leather trousers, think I will have to stick to really thick jeans.

MrChips..... if you can't `afford` the leathers then can you `afford` to be without the use of your legs?

I always said that I wouldn't even contemplate riding my CBR600 until I had my leathers. Got them & feel safer for it. Thumbs Up

I always think I look a bit of a boy racer in my full leathers and only wear them if I am going on a serious ride.

Maybe I should reconsider.
