No problems with it before - Did a nice run from Portsmouth to Brighton, bit off a hoonage with a pillion.
Got home ok, to return to the bike 1 hour later - and its completly dead?
No lights/clocks/ignition - nothing.
Check Battery leads then tryed again - Clocks come on with the 'N' light flickering -
Is it new battery time?! - Bit shocked its just suddenly gone Confused
I have it on charge, but the charger is saying 'full' and its only been on 30 mins.

+1 sounds like a dodgy connection somewhere, the ignition switch itself always seems a likely culprit.

Never switch it to parking light - and I always check to make sure lights arnt on.
Fuses I have no idea on?! But the flickerin of the 'N' light to me said battery is dead - altho I cant see how Laughing
Will try again in the morning, but it has left me stumped Confused
Surely a dead Battery would at least try to tick over the bike?
Even with the N light flickerin there was nothing - checked wires and both were solid on.

A dead battery might not have sufficient energy to run the starter motor. How tight were the connections (assuming you removed it to charge it)?

I have had a battery commit suicide, also the one on my step mothers Ford KA Gave up the ghost the other day too. Best bet is to check with a multimeter that nothing is draining the battery and if it appears nothing is draining it then replace the battery with a new one.

Do you have access to a multimeter so you can check the voltage in the battery and check for a drain?

what other said plus try to bump start it. If you manage that check that you charging system is not outputting something silly like 40V and fried the battery.

Sounds like internal corrosion of the starter relay. All the bikes power goes through it.

It could be that a cell (one of six in a 12v battery) has decided to short out some of its plates. This may well show up on the charger as fully charged if the other cells are still good.

Louise - if you can jump start the bike using a car battery and the bike appears to run okay then it does sound as though you are going to be needing a battery as soon as.

Battery can't hold a charge due to 1 or more cells dead. New battery time. If cells are dead it won't put out necessary voltage.

I had one go like that. Wouldn't even try and turn over. Couldn't even jump start. Wouldn't hold a charge. but push start was ok. Put it on tester and battery had dead cells.

No warning like slow start on cold days. Just one day packed up

+1
Have to agree. I,m afraid it looks like your battery is done for.
Sometime a battery wil just give up the ghost without warning and with the symptons you descibe that looke like the case.
Possible rectifierovercharging.

Get a cheap meter and measure the battery voltage, currently ater a full charge and then the voltage with the bike running (to test the charging circuit, ie stator and reg-rec), assuming it's good enough to charge to ~13V. £5-10 spent on a meter saves hassle and reduces the guesswork when dealing with batteries and electrics.

Measure the voltage during crank, make sure it's not dropping too low. 7 volts ish.
