Is there a program that could make a copy of important files and save them to another hard disk automatically?

Short answer - YES.

Ideally you would want a RAID set-up. But that's gonna cost ya.

windows backup in 2k/xp.

then schedule the backups at your leisure.

I found out earlier today it's not installed as standard for XP home, unsure about pro.
