I know this is an incredibly mundane question but on my test the guy was saying I should adjust suspension, tyres and lights when taking a pillion. Now I know that altering the lights on the NSR would be next to impossible to alter but how about the suspension?

Im asking because I'm a bit nervous about taking first pillion and couldn't find a concise answer on search.

Put a few more PSI in the rear tyre, it should say somewhere on the bike about tyre pressures, probably on the swing arm. As for adjusting the suspension, you can't do it on an NSR with the stock parts as far as I am aware?

I've never bothered adjusting my suspension on any bike to account for a pillion, including my old NSR. I'm lazy, so just ensured the tyre pressures were ok for pillion/motorway riding every now and then.
Just ensure you talk to your pillion beforehand and tell them not to move, wiggle around or look around - especially at slow speed and around corners. Pillions think that the best time is at slow speed but it's quite the opposite!
Maybe meet them at a local car park and slowly drive around and do some turns to boost your confidence and so you'll know what to expect before hitting the road?

I think you might be able to up the preload a bit. I believe there are a couple of thumb screws for adjusting the lights on the NSR (on the fox eye models).

Most people don't bother, even though we should.

Cheers all, I'll have a look for those screws but I couldn't see anything last time I looked.
