Hey guys I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to procede from here, I have a 125cc and am now looking to get something bigger and be able to travel on the motorway.

I am 19, will be twenty at the end of this month, can I even do my big tests yet?

Cheers.

hi
You have done the first stage the cbt Very Happy After the cbt you will need to your motorcycle theory test. After that you will do your mod1(off road part of the test). Then do the mod2 test (on the road) as you say you will be twenty soon you will be restricted to 33bhp for 2 yrs.But if you are serious about doing it try and get it all done before jan 2013 or you will have to wait till your 24 to ride a big bike 126cc or over. All your tests will be done on a 125cc machine. Thumbs Up My advice is to go to where you done your cbt and book a das test through them.or any other motorcycle school you choose..

Good luck and have fun Smile

If you do your tests this year, you can do the Restricted A test.

That involves doing Mod 1 (playground cones) and Mod 2 (on road test) using a 125cc bike.

If you pass you'll be entitled to ride any bike restricted to 33bhp. Like the one in my sig for example, or even a sports 600 restricted if you wish.

33bhp is more than enough for motorways (top speed will be 95-100mph).

After 2 years that licence will automatically upgrade to a full, unrestricted licence, meaning you can ride anything.

If you do your tests next year, it turns into a colossal clusterfuck of retesting due to new EU laws coming in. Do it now.

At 19 he cannot do DAS (21), but you can get your restricted license.

Urgh. OK, here we go.

Before 19th January 2013
Arrow Pass on your Rebel. Get an "A<=25kW" license that lets you ride any bike that makes up to 25kW (and not more than 0.16kW/kg), including bigger bikes that have been restricted down. After 2 years, the power restriction is removed and you can ride anything without sitting any more tets.

On or after 19th January 2013:
Arrow Pass on your Rebel. Get an A1 license to ride your Rebel. Sadly, this is not a typo, it's a joke license.
or
Arrow Pass on a 395cc+ 25-35kW bike and get an A2 license to ride any bike making up to 35kW, 0.2kW/kg and not restricted from one making more than 70kW. In practice, you'll do this via a training course costing you about £500 on top of the test fees. This license will not upgrade automatically.
then
Arrow 2 years after passing A2 or when you reach 24, pass on a 595cc+ 50kW+ bike and get an A/A3 license letting you ride anything. Again, you've got the problem of getting a bike that you're not licensed to ride soLo to the test centre legally.

The short answer is: pass your tests now. Book them as soon as possible. Really, book your Theory right now.

Book your theory ASAP and pass it (£30). Download the mod 1 course layout and swot up and practice the manoeuvres somewhere quiet. Pass mod 1 (£15).

Once you've got this done, book your mod 2 and pass the bugger. (£80). You've got until January, but if the weather pattern is bad then make that late November/early December, as once the snow and ice hit the roads useable test days will drop big time.

Combine that with a last minute panic for people getting the test done before the EU BS hits does not leave you with that much time, depending on local test availability.

If you're flush with cash and in no hurry, just do an intensive few days post-January and get a new A2 licence, which will probably cost you £600+ at a guess. You will be restricted to 47bhp until you're 21*, when you can do another round of BS testing on a bigger bike, costing another however much, to get your Full A licence.

* Or until you're pissed off and the restrictors "fall out" Smile
