Thought you’d like this.
Last night, I rang up Direct line to get a quote on my van insurance as it is due this month.
Renewal came through at £380, the GoComparethe MoneySUperMeerkat sites have given me prices starting about £320ish, so when I get a bit from DL, saying that they will give me 70%NCD and a further 20% introductory offer, I thought, what have I got to loose.
After about 10 mins of questions on the van, my driving history, the wife’s driving history, etc. the guy comes back with :-
Quote for insurance, £1049, plus insurance tax
No windscreen cover
No protected NCD
£650 excess
No courtesy van if in an accident.
I actually laughed down the phone at this guy and asked him if it was a joke?
My son who passed his test last month has managed to get insurance for his car for only £1300, so what the hell are they playing at?
He was deadly serious and sounded offended at my reaction.
Does anyone actually use these people to insure anything? As every time I call for a price on car/van/bike/house insurance, they quote stupid prices.
