Riding home from work last night I noticed a bit of vibration from the bars, relaxed my grip right off and the front wheel started to wobble.

Got it home without any issues, vibration is most noticeable when decelerating.

Likely to be a bearing? Or something more sinister?

TIA

Start with the basics. Check your tyre pressures and tread condition Smile

Above first.

You say its worse when just slowing down, or is it when using the front brakes? Brake bind or unbalanced effort from the calipers will cause juddering or vibration.

After you've rulled out tyres and brakes, get the front of the bike in the air, a friend to hold the bars and try to wiggle the wheel from side to side. If it moves, then your wheel bearings need replacing. Also check for any movement in the forks. Wobbles here mean your head bearings either need tightening or replacing too.

Thumbs Up

Thanks for the replies, tyre pressures are fine, brakes don't appear to be binding and the vibration was when coasting to slow down, not applying the brakes.

Going to drop it down to my local garage shortly see what they make of it.

All the bearings are fine, forks are solid, brakes not binding, there was some wear to the tyre so got that changed.

The consensus is that one of the fork springs has weakened and it is transversing causing the wobble.

On the look out for some replacement springs and see if that fixes it.

Never heard of that before and I would be VERY surprised if not fork springs do anything.

Have a look at the rear wheel bearings and all the suspension linkages a problem at the rear can feel like a problem at the front.
