'trouble up ahead'?

ie signalling there's a speed trap or an accident round the bend or simply 'slow down' there's <shit> ahead?

I recommend a simple 'THUMB DOWN' to whoever you're warning - what do you think? It's quick, easy, you don't have to think about it and it's internationally recognised . . .?

You could actually do the proper road signal from the Highway Code for slow down? Rolling Eyes

you wouldn't have time necessarily - how many 'flaps' would you get in the space of the few metres and closing speed of anything from 40mph+? . . . hence my thread Wink

I drive a truck through the week and i would agree with the monkey on this one, a Thumbs Down is the greneral sign to warn other road users of a hazzard, be it police or any other reason to be extra carefull

I do that, especially if the people /are/ going the speed limit, but might speed up.

Would probably do the high way code flap for slow down if they were going fast.

It should be noted that people also give a Thumbs Up to warn of trouble... a long time ago a trucker warned me like so and probably saved my licence with it Smile.

I've seen that done a few times, and it is easily understood. On the bike, that is what I do - especially if there's another bike coming as I normally assume that they wouldn't be below the speed limit.

I think my version is a little too 'limp wristed' to be seen clearly. Still, I'm sure most people would understand and slow down. Personally, if anyone coming the opposite way does anything out of the ordinary (i.e. flaps, waves arms, flashes etc) I slow down.

Hi
Yeah I do the flappy thingy on single roads if there is troble/coppers ahead, or flash my lights s**t loads if im on a dule carridge way/motorway, one flash and people may think your flashing sum1 past, if your flashing alot it should get peoples attention.

I do the whirly thing over my head if im going slow and see sum1 else going slowly.

I was once giving it some of these lights when a bloke in car started waving about like a maniac. I slowed down and when I came round the bend there was a copper pointing a speed gun at me, har har I was doing the speed limit Mr. Green , thank you Mr flappy Car driver, if it wasnt for him I would have certainlly have been done (it was a 30 and when you accelerte hard on an R6 your doing way over that in a few secods Confused ).

We got the old 'headlight-flash' on the way to see Ste the other day. Only problem was it was about 10 miles before we got to the speedtrap so wasted the whole length of a real nice twisty road going really slowly. Confused Bugger
