Why bother? Just fit a big bore kit and lock up clutch to deal with the extra power then get a silicone plug lead and non-ballast coil, that will match most 125s and have the advantage of being lighter than a 125 engine so you'll have a better power to weight ratio.

Might need to consider adjusting the gearing though as acceleration would be a bit harsh compared to a standard machine, wheelying is one thing but flipping a bike is seriously painful.

If its fucked definately go for the 70 kit and do all of the above. Dont forget to wind up the bow thruster though so it can reach full potential of arm pulling power!

Flipping it? Arm pulling power? It's a 50 with a 70 kit we're talking about, right?

Fit whatever is easiest, both financially and to your ability. Neither will set the world on fire, but I imagine the top end of the 125 could be beneficial in some situations?

The 125 engine is a 4 stroke, not sure if that will cause you any problems

How long are you keeping it for? Most people seem to spend so much money trying to improve their first bike. But at the end of the day, it won't be anything close to the speed of a big bike, and is armed with awful L plates.

What I'm saying is you'll regret spending so much in a couple years time, so that would influence my decision entirely. But then again, that's hindsight I guess.

Surely that wouldn't just need major brake and other component upgrades, but also a much stronger frame to support it? If its designed for a 50, putting a 500 engine in would be nothing short of stupid, right?

But for what it's worth, get it on the road in the most efficient way possible, enjoy it, and get a full license for some real 2 wheeled fun. Cool

I'd say you need to do some research and work out how much all of this is gonna cost. Then if that's going to go way above what the bike is worth, just break it for bits and move on.

Probably better off getting a 70 / 80 kit for it rather than a 125 engine.

Be quicker than the 125 if the 125 is a 4 stroke engine..

and probably cheaper.

Thumbs Up
