Posted: 18:05 - 25 Sep 2012 Post subject: Mikuni Carb Question, Extra Parts in Rebuild Kit? UPDATE!! |
 |
|
I've just rebuilt a Mikuni, 28mm, VM series, carb for my YPVS.
Unfortunately I have three pieces left from the rebuild kit.
Two of these parts were in the same pack as the small circlip for the needle. There is a spring 10mm long 4mm dia, and a circlip 10mm dia.
There is also a rubber washer 11mm dia.
I've got all the parts, that I removed from the carb, and these parts where not present, nor do these parts show up on the parts diagram in the Haynes.
Are these parts for the choke, not present on the carb I'm working on? ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!"

Cheers for that, the carbs I'm rebuilding came without the choke, so I'll have to get that off my original carbs, same choke fits the entire VM range as far I can tell.
Bike is coming along, got a load of bits back from powder coating, I'm trying to finish the painting before we lose the weather, over here, should get another month before we lose the sun!
Unfortunately due to the inadequacies of my net connection I can't upload photos at the moment.
Got some graphics through the post today, so I should be able to get a couple of clear coats on at the weekend.
All I'm waiting on is, tyres, I have a bit more painting to do to the crankcases and I need to sort some bearings and oil seals for the front wheel! ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!" |

Awesome, Sounds a mint little project.
Paint always seem's to lay better in the sun in the warmth I've noticed.
As for the choke when you take the choke cable out you will see where all the part's go, it can be a lot of faffing on some carbs.
Be sure to take many pics then upload them all in show and tell when Internet is more of a higher standard
Good luck

No cable, it's the plunger type, mounted on the side of the carb.
Yeah the paint goes on easy in the warmth, it's just about dry by the time it hits the metal, not a paint expert so I don't know whether that's good or bad, saves having to get masked up indoors anyway! ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!" |

Update.
It turns out that the small spring fits on the throttle slide screw.
It must have been missing on the first carb I did, but there was one fitted on the second.
Haven't looked at the choke on my other carbs yet, so I've still got the large circlip and rubber washer. ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!" |
