Inspector Dave Brown said: "Wisniewski should be thankful that he is still here to face a ban and a community order."

"His riding showed complete disregard for his safety and that of other people."

"The consequences of such irresponsible riding could have seen him facing far more serious offences."

Stretch of road just before the turn off for Squires isn't it? I don't know anyone who sticks to the speed limit on there lol.

Someone did a similar thing in a village near me.

The only difference was that it was a fixed camera and he had removed the number plate.

They still caught him though.

That's asking for perverting the court of justice, which is "bring a toothbrush" territory. Tut Tut

Well, I'm glad that Safety Camera caught him just before he killed all those kittens. Thumbs Up

And the "Safety Camera Partnership" will doubtless be happy that he didn't have to pay them anything, just "do" the same amount of community service that you'd get for kicking a granny in the throat. Because they're all about the justice, not the income.

Even better, the deterrent effect on that section of road will doubtless contribute to their ostensible goal of 100% compliance with no penalties that fund their "work". They'll be delighted with that outcome. Wink

Cool wheelie Thumbs Up Bullshit sentence Thumbs Down At the rate things are going you'll be called a maniac for crossing the road without using a pedestrian crossing before too long.

Bloody camera van crosshair was all over the place, too.

I use this bit of road all the time. Not sure I'd want to be doing wheelies on it. Road surface is naff at the best of times.

The M62 is even worse. Huge cracks between lanes.

Damn... always had it in my mind that that would work to get away with it Sad

These safety cameras are just horrible though. They get put in areas which earn them the most money, not where it increases safety. Like long and fast A roads where it's safe to go faster. Yet I followed somebody the other day in a van clearly knocking 60-70mph in a built up residential area, 30mph limit, tight corners, plenty of places to hide a child.

Also I've noticed that all the fixed cameras around here are pointing down-hill where possible. Never up-hill, always down-hill... as to catch the unsuspecting motorist who was trying to follow the speed limit as well.

I think so-called safety cameras decrease safety. They cause panic braking and make people focus more on their speedo than the actual road to make sure they avoid a fine and points.

As for the video, I watched a few seconds of it. If he had stuck next to that car he would have gotten away with it! Smile

No speed camera improves safety. You slow down for them and then you speed right back up. They're pointless. If anything they should just have mobile cameras scattered around, if people realise there is a distinct possibility of getting caught/points wherever they are, they'll not risk speeding so much.

Also, isn't 100mph an instant ban ?

Been that way since at least 1907, I doubt it'll change any time soon.

Reading the article, he admitted to dangerous driving - fuck that.
Id have argued the toss that to pull a wheelie and maintain that angle at that speed actually takes a great amount of skill, and therefore due to my obvious high level of skill was actually a perfectly safe manoeuvre and i should only be prosecuted for the speeding offence....

Wouldnt work, but would be fun to watch the faces of the judge and prosecution in court!!

IIRC a few years ago one of the F1 drivers was done for speeding (do not think in the UK, maybe wrong there). Anyhow the judge was lenient as he said because of his profession he had a greater skill and control than would be expected from anyone else (mere mortals). IIIRC he didn't quite get off but it was nothing more than a telling off/slapped wrist.

Looking at the video it's interesting to see that unlike a 'normal' speed camera van it is targeted at the rear number plates. Normal ones just get the white front plates of cars.

Also interesting to note that the speed on one wheel was -93mph, on 2 wheels it 's -103mph. So saying 103mph wheelie is perhaps gilding the lily for sensational and media hype value.

There was a case on the Island a while ago where a lad was over the hundred with the front wheel in the air. Hauled him into court on a charge of dangerous riding only for the judge to throw it out because he was 'clearly in control of the vehicle'.

The law is at times, hilarious.

1+ For speed camera's for being Pointless Very Happy

The most effective way if they wanted to would be to put Average speed Camera's EVERYWHERE.

Saying that, if they did that after a while their would have no drivers on the road Laughing

Not a separate camera, the one with the images has all the speed info.
The first image on the video is actually from the side of the van of the bike going past. I'm guessing that's what's used to trigger or mark the front camera recording.

IMHO they could do that if they beefed up the ANPR cameras and the data collection so they could work out your average speed between two or more points. Certainly would work on motorways (how soon do you think tolls will reappear as a suggestion) and many major A roads (certainly those with single digits and majority with two after the A prefix).
