Anyone here been?

I got 2 free tickets from Tesco clubcard points and decided to go there with my wife. I've never really been on any rollercoasters, well I have but I don't know whether you can call Oakwood park a proper theme park.

Suggestions? Where to go first? What should I take?

From a Theme park virgin!

It's great in the summer because the water rides are fun.

There are 3 or 4 that are pretty good.

TBH you should bring some money for fast track, which saves a lot of waiing from 45 to over an hour to like 10 mins. Maybe you can go on a quiet day?

For me, the rush and speed of Stealth in such a short time, and the height was amazing. It's like 10 secs if that, but it was good, especially because I am scared of heights.

Nemesis was OK. Quick which is disappointing.

Colosos OK. Sort of long and you see people around because it often borders the pathways.

SAW was OK.

TBH they tell you the times so I would say if it's under 45 mins wait, then don't bother. You will get to go on most of them. It's when you have to queue 1.30 mins etc... then it's tight.

I forgot how much it is but maybe £7 quid or something.

You just made me want to go even more. If they are good enough to make you faint and you ride bikes then it should be sweet.

Forget fast track, go up the single rider lines where they're available (all the big rides); unless you're desperate to get the photos of you sat together.

Go on stealth over and over until your stomach falls out of your rectum.

You won't regret it Laughing .

P.S. fast track imo is worth the extra if it is busy, but not worth it if it is quiet.

I went this time last year on a Tuesday, it was dead except for a surprising amount of jews Thinking .

Stealth ay?

Noted!!

I'm getting pretty excited now. Just been watching the vids. They have this new ride for 2012 called swarm. Looks pretty exciting. Never done Alton Towers either so might have to put that on the to do list before it closes for the winter.

+1 for the fast track suggestion.

You'll love it Thumbs Up Went to Alton Towers a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. If you've got free tickets then it would be rude not too, considering how much some places charge. Just don't have anything big to eat before hand, just in case Laughing

I've been to Oakwood Park when i stayed at a mates in Pembroke Dock a few years ago. That Hydro water ride that plunges you into the water from about 200ft up was pretty cool. Apparently some girl died on that ride a couple of years before hand if i remember rightly?

No need for fast pass shit, we went beginning of summer before schools were let out, queue time was 0 mins for everything aside from the swarm, which was 20 mins. Laughing

Yes mate you remember right.

My mate was working on the ride when it happened. He said she fell out of the front of the ride and slid to the bottom as the ride gets held before it gets let go, and she had reached the bottom and started to stand up then Blam! Smacked from behind and killed her. (Thanks for mentionining it BTW Neutral )

I was just about to start a thread on the same topic!

We have tickets for tomorrow. I like theme parks, but its a fair way from us (we have kids - any journey over an hour in length is hard work...)

If you guys reckon its a decent place then i shall make the effort.
Thumbs Up

Not been thorpe park so kind of a useless reply, did manage go rhyl pleasure beach before it was destroyed and this roller-coaster was the worst I've ever been on.

The rail came free and I was hanging out all the way around Crying or Very sad

Ended up removing my hatred of roller-coasters last year when I went Alton Towers though.

Don't like roller coasters or heights much at all.
Traumatised as a kid going on a ride called the energizer which just wildly shot up and down, but the seats were too big to me and when it lowered I floated out the seat and had to hold on for dear life

Brown trousers Thumbs Up

Like water rides though, enjoy log flumes and pussy rides Very Happy
