A stock Spesh Rockhopper for me. OE pedals went straight in the bin for some DMR V8s. Does me ok for now.

Like the look of the Rourke, purposefull, is that a custom build, where did he ride it? The TT bike looks cool, had a go on my sons mates TT bike, didn't really suit a slightly overwieght 56 year old, nervous and I felt everything on the road. Nice bikes Thumbs Up

Cheers, the Rourke bike was built for the Cat and Fiddle Challenge, which is a sportive sponsored by Rourke bikes and supported by Sean. Makes me want to get a custom build from though - it's steel framed but barely any heavier than the carbon Wilier (full Dura Ace probably helps!)

I've actually done more mileage on the TT bike this year as I've been concentrating on my TT'ing rather than sportives etc. it's my 2nd season competing on a TT bike - first season I wasn't much faster than on a road bike, but a bit if position work and alot of training on the actual bike gave good improvements this year Smile

07 Kona Stinky
Upgrades:
06 Marzocchi 66 Forks
Avid Juicy 7 rear brake
E13 LG1 chain guide
Diabolus Crank
Full SRAM X9 drivetrain + Shifter
Blackspire Chain ring
MTX camo laced to a Hope pro2 hub on the rear
Wellgo V12 pedals
Decent lock on grips (cant remember who makes them)
GEAX DH rear tyre, Maxxis Minion DHF front tyre
Crank Bro's SS headset
Katec Performance suspension bearings

I think that's it. I've spent about as much money on this as I have on the Bandit.

Frame is currently in bits as the suspension linkage bearings all siezed after 5 years of abuse.

Trek Series 4 - 4300. I've switched the Bontrager knobblies for Schwalbe big apples since I mainly use the bike for commuting with the odd off roading.

Picked up this today
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/big_al/IMAG0182_zpse11af472.jpg

It's a 2011 Giant Anthem X3, was 44% off rrp from a local bike shop.

Its' the first full suspension bike I've had. Looks wise I'm not overly keen on the red cable sleeves but I can live with them.
I took it down to Thetford Forest and rode one of the red graded trails so that I could set up the suspension. I think I've got a good starting point now, the ground was a little boggy so it might need tweaking when I get a chance to ride it on some firmer ground.
The Giant is lovely to ride, it really flatters a fairly average rider like myself as its so fast and just glides over the rutts and bumps that have previously been hard work. The downside is that it just pushes you to ride flatout the whole time and after a 10 mile loop of the trail I'm shattered, its a shame you can't buy extra fitness Smile

Nice looking bike there mate. Pleeeease get that front brake cable shortened, it's just begging to get caught on a branch or something and send you cartwheeling down the trail.

Thanks I think its just because the brake cable is twisted forward in that photo, its twisted back against the frame now and it looks a lot more normal.
I may need to shorten it anyway as I'm thinking about cutting the bars down or fitting some different ones as they feel a bit too wide for me, not sure if I'll get used to them.

I've got a custom effort built off a Kona Scrap frame and a Diamondback Axis....i'll get photo's later.

Should really sell one but one is functional and the other is of sentimental value.

Do you change race bike every season? Surely that must get expensive for little benefit.

I work in the industry, so I can get parts for less than trade. It generally gets used for a season and sold for a profit!!

But you're absolutely right, under normal circumstances, it would be insane to do that!

(11 speed dura ace going on the new bike Razz )

I've got a 2010 Giant Talon 0.

It's ok, but the front brake and the basic Rockshox forks do need an upgrade next year to make it better off road. I'm not sure what forks and brake upgrade to go for, or if to get a bigger disc for the std caliper etc?

I also have a 1993 Raleigh Mirage that is just about still in one peice, although held together with cableties etc. 20year's seems ages for a mountain bike to last, but then again all my vehicles are old.

Motorbike is 25years old
Car is 18years old.

Kona Jake the snake cx frame built up as a road bike,

2013 scott voltage fr30 with 10 speed x9 / x0 instead of the 8 speed x4 that comes as standard, just ordered some hope stealth tech evo v4 brakes and floating rotors and i will go for a dropper post when i can justify it.

use it for street riding , riding at chicksands bike park on the dual the 4x and the freeride park and when i get a bit more confident i am lucky enough to live right near and be a member of one of the only places in the country with any north shore and ride with one of the best mtb coaches in the country.
