Thorn Brevet from St John St cycles for proper rides; old model Kona Cinder Cone from ebay for riding with my daughter - I could barely keep the Brevet upright at the speeds she calls fast; the Kona I can happily ride at walking pace ____________________ Honda Varadero 125cc => Suzuki Bandit 650 33bhp => 77bhp =>

Christ, the Conti "Gravity" are akin to Farmer Johns. Fair play to him
I do like the bike, paid just over £100 for it a few years back and it's been great. First time I actually went off road riding the forks were a revelation, bear in mind that I was riding competitively back around '91, V brakes were still fairly new technology let alone serious suspension gear ____________________ I'm immortal. Well, so far. |

Decided to buy a "new" bike a while ago. Decided I wanted a steel frame, rigid forks, and no BS.
I could have bought some new equivalent, but realised quite quickly that what i really wanted was my old mountain bike back from when i was a kid, but with an adult size frame. Cue a trip to ebay, where I picked up an early 90's Trek 820 Antelope in perfectly serviceable condition for the princely sum of £20.
And its exactly as I remembered. Light, very nimble, and pretty much indestructible. I might go crazy and fit some V-brakes.
Looks pretty much like this (but without the bar ends and parcel shelf thingys -

My Giant (rather than a random one off the 'net), first time ridden properly despite 10 months ownership or so!

As per the other thread - unfortunately I didn't have SPD shoes to go with the pedals, which made some of the fast downhill bits a bit 'interesting' as no real grip with the stuff there.
First time using the remote seat thingy in anger and very much liking it. Though, to start with I'd leave it a bit late on a descent and think "I need to brake/not die on this steep bit, better put the seat down so I can get my butt back", then be right on top of the section while still faffing with the lever. Fairly quickly got used to it. |

Specialized Hard Rock Pro, a few uprated bits I'm now just waiting on Hydraulic rear calliper to match the front and I have a set of combined brake/gear levers to go on it.

Sun Solo, it an 80's frame with a few modern bits, still getting used to how it rides, much more twitchy than my MTB and the gears are fiddly. but it is surprisingly comfortable considering the position. ____________________ Well, you know what they say.
