had a side thought. it hurt.

anyway, so should bikers be expecting to be pulled over more when the new license changes come into effect for a while?

you know, police looking to enforce the new changes and making random spot checks to make sure bikers are complying?

and whats the penalty for not complying? apart from lack in insurance and your usual jobsworth trying to get your bike destroyed that is.

I wouldn't of thought the rozzers will be anymore interested in bikers than they already are.

i guess so, too busy tazering people or (for the legit cops) burried too deep in paper work because they actually did their jobs properly.

Fact is people will comply with the new laws, the ones that won't are not complying already so I can't see what changes.

Possibly, at the end of the day the paper work is going to be a bit lulzy.

Can you imagine the clusterfuck going on at DVLA.

And the amount of licences that will come back wrong.

this is what im dreading. im £20 short from booking my module 2 and time is closing in and really dont want to leave it too close to january because of the DVLA cock-ups

People ride unrestricted bikes under the current rules when they shouldn't, I see no reason why the level of enforcement will change or the number of people who flout it. Shifty

Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure that if you do your mod 1 before January 19, you will be able to do mod 2 afterwards, if within a reasonable time.

negative, think roger said the module 2 pass would result in a 125cc license. not the 2 year restricted.

Usually_Wrong is Probably_Right .I would have thought (don't know for sure) that taking your Mod 2 after Jan 19th means that you are subject to the new regulations. After all, a Mod 1 pass grants no license qualification but only allows you to take the Mod 2 which is your license granting step.
It would be interesting to see what would happen though when the time comes. Someone is bound to be between the 2 tests on Jan 19th, but I reckon they'd have to take the next test in two years, or whatever bollox is in store.

DirectGov spells it out (badly) that the license you'll get will depend on your mod 2 test bike.

They seem to imply that a 19 year old could do mod 1 on a 125 then mod on a 395cc+ 25-35kW bike and get new A2 though, which seems unlikely, especially since they're just after saying that you may need to do the test on a lower category of bike.

We just don't know how it's going to be implemented, or whether Plod will start tugging people to demand Ze Papers. They don't seem to do it now, and bearing in mind that relatively few people will have the new A2 straight away, I wouldn't sweat it for a couple of years.
