what should i look for? my old ones had no armour and were very flimsy, im on a 125 but i guess if you come off at 60mph it makaes no difference what you're on, should i get gloves with some armour on?

Yes you want knuckle protection and protecton on palms.

If you want armoured gloves, get armoured gloves. If you prefer non-armoured ones, get those.

All comes down to personal preference in the end.

Depends. I had a pair of unarmoured 20 quid gloves for 2 years, and loved them because there was so much feel and they were so comfy. Not too warm in winter though.

I crashed in them at about 60-70 and they did the job. Some of the stitching pulled at the seams, but they soaked up the abrasion nicely.

I now have some 25quid ones with more padding and warmth, and some semi armour stuff on the backs. Not as nice overall.

Gloves are one of those things you dont want to muck around with...fingers dont grow back

hein gerricks whole range are very good, but if your feeling abit tarty you could always go for alpine stars etc

My winter gloves were made my Bearing (never heard of them before), they had knuckle protection, and for being winter gloves weren't that warm. They were also very cumbersome, kept beeping my horn when I tried to cancel indicators etc

My summer gloves are Apline Starts SP3's, they do not have rigid knuckle protection but there is plenty of padding and extra protection on the palms. I have had a few spills wearing these and they have held up fine. Think they were about £30. Not bad value I think

You can't spend too much on gloves, Get the ones that Craig posted they are cool and kept my hands in tact twice.

IMO get cheaper gloves. The most expensive ones only offer a little more protection and are often less weather proof.
Your hands don't usually suffer road rash and no gloves can really stop broken bones (never mind fingers falling off )

You can always buy those thermal under-glove things for when it does get colder. They do make thinner gloves feel a lot warmer!

get armoured...i have had two accidents and although the gloves werent needed in either, my brother has had one accident and his hand was crushed between the car and his bike . the kevlar armour in the knuckles stopped his hands being crushed (although they were badly hurt) and therefore may have saved the use of his hand!!!!

worth the extra money for armour!!

up to about about £50 - 60 the gloves are normally all cow hide, and do the job fine. after that your get the "tartier" gloves with kangaroo leather. which is stronger and more supple, thus more comfortable. it is not necessary, but the "roo" leather is a nice luxury!! depends if you can afford it.

basically the same advice with all saftey gear:
get the best you can afford!!
