MS are ditching it Shocked I still use it every day pretty much, it has got worse and worse over the years of course but still, I will be sad to see it go. Back in 2004 or so when I was at school it was the in thing to be on MSN messenger.

That couldn't have picked a worse time to turn it off!

They've just released Windows 8 which has chat built in and support for MSN. I'm using it now on a daily basis because of Windows 8 whereas before I hadn't used it in a year.

MS own 3 chat clients - WLM, Skype and Lync. I expect all the integration features will smoothly be migrated over within windows 8.

Paddy, move over to Lync and JM, Skype. Easy, no real drama...

Win 8 doesn't have Skype integration built in though. It's one of the things I actually like about Windows 8, having a client built in with support for facebook + msn. It doesn't allow me to add Skype to it.

Ah but Paddy moving the Lync and me to Skype wouldn't work so well, I talk to Paddy a lot on MSN whilst he's at work and I'm at uni Laughing

Anyway... all I was personally thinking is that Microsoft have done it at the worst time because with the release on Windows 8 I predict more people would have started using WLM again. Although I understand they want to focus on Skype for monetary reasons.

If they add Skype to the built in chat thingy on Win 8 I'll be happy. Smile
