I've booked my mod 2 for the 5th of next month and just have a quick question...

My CGs left indicator is temperamental. It's a switch problem as the switch only stays depressed 1 in every 10 times used, the 9 times it just slips straight back out. While I appreciate the need for all controls to be working on a test (and it is my intention to get it looked at before the date) where do I stand with this? If I turned up to test with a dodgy indicator, can I get through it using hand signals or will I be sent home?

Nope! If indicators are fitted they must be in working order.

I had my second Mod 2 cancelled due to my indicator being faulty. Got a way in, pulled me over and said "Did you indicate on the last turn?" Told him I did, and he told me my indicator wasn't working. Gave it a knock and it came back on, but on the next turn it stopped again, he pulled me over and cancelled Sad

erm, have you tried dismantling the switch housing and taking a wire brush to the contacts and making sure everything is greased where it needs to be, clean where it needs to be, wire connections are solid?

i had a temperamental indicator.

dismantled the housing
shrubbed with wire brush
resoldered the wires as they where looking a little worn out
greased the "spinny" bits. the points where it pivots basically
checked the wiring from the switch to the indicators (via the headlamp)

soon got it all sorted out.

just be careful not to loose any bits from inside.

Come on fella, its a faulty indicator, get it fixed either yourself or at a garage.

Not too sound harsh, but I would out there finding and fixing the problem instead of posting about it.

Best of luck for the mod 2 though Thumbs Up

'Kinell, so shoot me for asking about a hypothetical situation Rolling Eyes I did say I'm gonna fix it, when I have possession of my bike (as its on loan to a relative) and a spare two seconds to get it done if I'm lucky enough for the two to coincide before then. Rolling Eyes
