Ok, well, basiclly, a couple of weeks ago i bought my first bike (a 1997 Suzuki GS125), i spent 700 of my saved 900 on it, andafter then splashin for a good helmet i didn't have enough for cash left for insurance, so for the next few days my bike sat outside the house, stationary. I come home from college one day however, to find it dashed across the ground, my only neighbour admitting to having knocked it over. While they did apologise, they are refusing to pay for the damages, (a samshed clutch lever, torn in half throttle cable, epicly dented petrol tank and torn seat). My enquiry is, as i dont have insurance, but they do on the car which assualted my suzuki, do i have any kind of claim? Cheers.

I believe so? Ask for their details and name of their insurer, surely their 3rd party aspect will cover damage to your property, regardless whether it is a vehicle or not.

Eg, someone drives into someones garden wall, demolishing it, the driver's 3rd party insurance will cover the damage.

Get insurance details off of them and make a right stink about it. Look up what getting brand new parts for anything even remotely damaged would cost direct from suzuki (ring up a dealer and as for a quote for all the bits, should be lots! then get the list of parts and prices printed with references and hand it to them)
might be able to insurer the thing by the time you fix it!

and then shit on their doorstep for not wanting to pay for the damage.

On the road or in your driveway? I suspect there's some offence of having your bike on the public highway without insurance - you might need to tread carefully. Rogerborg could probably verify that.

How about trying to get a sneaky recording of the neighbour admitting it... then playing it back to him/her saying you're taking it to the police if they don't pay up for fixing it (or give you insurance details),

You could try the small claims court, try and get some sort of written or recorded proof first though Wink Failing that, there is is obvious option of revenge Twisted Evil

also, if you can get your bike round the back of your house, out of sight, it's less likely to get nicked before you do insure it.

I'm sorry to hear that your neighbour drove onto your private property to smash up your bike.

Of course, you didn't have it out on the street on in an area in which the public enjoy a general right of access without 3rd party insurance, since that would be a criminal offence.

Since they drove onto your property, and you have load of witnesses or some record of their admission of guilt, you'll have no problems claiming from them. Any solicitor will be happy to obtain their details and bring a civil suit against them on your behalf since your case is so strong, or you could get their address from the DVLA.

Basically.
